that's the only plausible way I could see it. that'd be tough for the Republicans to match and it's possible that combined those two may have some good ideals for the country moving forward.

any thing short of that the Democrats don't prevent much of a threat to the GOP. the GOP is a true reflection of the country as a whole. the CLINTON/GORE package could be sold based on an optimistic future / HOPE type of marketing and selling point.

If the Democrats were looking for qualifications, Richardson has them in spades (congressman, diplomat, ambassador, cabinet-level secretary, and governor). Unfortunately, some might have a problem with his heritage.

And don't kid yourselves, Hillary can win the election. She should choose (1) Richardson or (2) Obama as a running mate. These days--and it's really sad--a lot of people care more about "star power" than policy positions.

The Republicans should run Fred Thompson at the top of the ticket with Rudy Giuliani as his running mate. Don't count Romney out, though. He looks like a president right out of central casting--and that matters to a lot of people--but he won't be playing a bit part. I could see a Romney-Giuliani ticket or even the other way around.

PS: I'd really like to see Rudy at the top--I'm much more closely aligned politically with him than I am Bush. He needs a super-strong running mate, though. Who would it be?

Why the hell would Gore kneel before Hillary Clinton? He did win the popular vote last time, and this time around, the Democrats are much more pumped up while the Republicans are in disarray. No, I can't see him taking veep to Hillary especially when he has a very strong chance of just taking the Presidency himself if he desired to.

The absolute worst thing the Democrats could do is run Hillary Clinton. Right now, the GOP base is completely beat down... zero morale. The fundamentalist christians who went out and voted for Dubya aren't nearly as motivated now either.

What can motivate the Republican base??--- The Dem's nominating a candidate that the party has such hate and vitriol for and that candidate will be Hillary.. and in NC, that candidate would be Edwards or any ticket with Edwards on it.

If the Dem's were smart and would steer clear of those two candidates, they would win in a land slide regardless of who the Pubs ran.
