I go to the Rush but Ive heard since the time I signed, which when was they first opened up in the Triad, that they dont have as good of deals. I pay $29/month with no contract, dont remember having a signup fee either.

They just came to my job to try to get new members and I think the deal they were running was $30/month with a 36 month contract and you couldnt float from gym to gym (if you signup at Brassfeild you can only go to that gym, cost extra to go to other locations).

Lexington is the Holy Grail here. There are some good places out towards Lexington in general I haven't tried. Carter brothers sucked last time I went, haven't been to Kepley's in awhile. Both are in High Point.

^ Lexington bbq blows in my opinion. I went to the bbq festival and was VERY disappointed. Stamey's is better as far as i am concerned. There are a couple good spots in Burlington too.

If you go there again, try the course chopped. That way you get the prime cuts in your BBQ. Much better tasting.

Lexington used to be in my old sales territory, so I had a few local spots that I liked a lot. But that BBQ festival killed it for me. All of it tasted like it had been made 3 days before. I mean, I thought the whole point of a festival was to bring your best.

Anyone in Greensboro have any leads on project management, CAD Design, or engineering jobs? I got laid off from civil engineering firm and am using all resources so figured might as well give it a try on thewolfweb. Not very picky about what industry. More or less want to get a job and ride out this economic storm. I have submitted with most of the recruiting agenices as well as all the engineering and manufacturing firms I could locate thus far.

Thanks,

Scott

And some bad news for folks in Greensboro who use TWC. They are going to start the tiered pricing for internet here soon.

What are some good job search websites for this area?

I found TraidCareers.com

and then the obvious:
craiglist
monster
career builder

Just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing a key site that someone may be aware of.

Those are all the biggies in the area. I found my current job on Careerbuilder, but it is not my ideal position. It is just a band-aid until the job I really want lifts their hiring freeze.

Overall, I haven't had much luck with any of the online job sites. I just get a ton of spam with "work from home" and "come sell health insurance" types of positions. I think it is best to just try to network. Do some research and find several companies in your industry that you would like to work for. Then check their careers page on their websites to see if they are hiring. The online job sites are so flooded with people right now that it is almost impossible to have your resume get noticed. But if you can send it to the company directly, it shows you are really interested and will more likely to get you noticed. Shit, even if they aren't hiring, I would still fire off a resume to their HR director.

Looking for a place to rent in Greensboro for about 8 months with my fiance. We have been looking to buy but with our schedules we are not going to be able to find anything before our wedding. We would prefer a really nice townhome or a house in Brassfield, Kirkwood, Irving Park, Starmount, or Friendly Area. If anyone knows of anything besides what is on craiglist etc. let me know as we are looking to do something in the next few weeks.

wow those are nice places.

I don't know of any places, but some other neighborhoods to look in are Hamilton Lakes, Lindley Park and Hamilton Forest areas. You might have better luck there for rentals. There's not many townhomes in those areas. Starmount Forest has their own website, http://www.starmountforestnews.com/

I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but last I looked homes in Starmount were 1600 to 2200 to rent. Lindley Park has Lindley Park Manor that is pretty nice. Irving Park has the Country Club Manor. I don't know much about Country Club, but Lindley Park was pretty nice. It's close to a park and it's easy to get to any part of town from there.

Hope that helps

^ Kirkwood area actually isn't too bad rent wise. I was looking in Kirkwood back in February and they ranged from $800-$1200 per month, at least in the older section.

I am going to share a little secret about Greensboro that I just recently learned. It is called the Super G Mart. A.K.A. the international market on Market St. This is now the ONLY place I will buy fresh seafood and other meats. I can't put into words how badass this place is, so you just need to take my advice and go. They actually beat out Fresh Market when it came to freshness and cleanliness. And it is cheap as shit fresh meats, with full service butchers. Trust me, just go check it out. You will thank me.

I went into Super G mart yesterday and got some fresh shrimp. $4.99/lb and they were HUGE. I also picked up a HUGE duck that I plan to roast for my mom for Mother's day. Although, I couldn't help but notice the 90% Sanitation Grade. Whoever told me they beat out Fresh Market must have been lying, because I highly doubt Fresh Market has a score in the 80's
