Specifically interested in Gas and Power...high months and low months for each. Also post whatever specs you can like square footage, age of house, HVAC systems used (or at least specifying whether you use gas or electric heat), or any other factors which help/hurt your energy usage. Thx

1250 sqft.
Gas heat.
Everything else is electric.
1 person.

Highest gas bill was ~ $85 - i keep the heat on 65 degrees
Lowest electric bill was $34, in february.
Moved in last september, so the highest electric bill is yet to be determined.

I haven't had the heat or air on in 2 weeks, and i've been gone for 3 weekends straight. this month might be a record low on electricity.

I have a 1400 sf townhouse in Cary that is 20 years old.

Furnace - water heat source central air (uses hot water from the hwh to heat the house) - brand new - installed March '08
Water heater - gas water heater - brand new - installed March '08
Air Conditioner - electric - installed 2003

Stove and Dishwasher are brand new - installed May '08, Fridge is 3 years old. Most of the light bulbs in the house have been converted to the efficient ones. I also have a programmable digital thermostat installed. Power runs an average of $65-70/month. During the summer, that could get to $90, during the winter it probably stays around $55. Gas seems to stay pretty constant in the $40/month range, maybe $50 in the winter. Water bill stays around $30-$40.

Just my girlfriend and I living there. The new appliances and furnace probably save me $20+/month electric (compared to before) and $5-$8 in gas.

I don't run anything if I am not there, so having the AC/heat on while you are at work is a waste. Other things I do, is that I NEVER cut on a light unless I absolutely cannot see - you'd be surprised how much you turn on a light and you really don't need to, I close my laptop lid if I am not using it, I onlyt use one lamp at a time, and use all 60 watt bulbs just to name a few things I do to save. I live in a 1 br apt, and my bill is about 40.

~1200 sq. feet
2 people
gas heat and water
20 yr old townhouse, 2 story, middle unit

gas: $115 in the winter months, $20 in the summer
i wash all of our clothes using cold water, so hot water is only used for dishes and showers.

i don't know our electric bill as I don't pay that one directly. but last year in august was terrible and $$$. all of our lightbulbs are compact florescent.

we have a programmable thermostat which really helps regulate and cut down heating/cooling costs. only thing on constantly is the computer, ceiling fans, DVR, and clocks around the house.

christ, I need to move back to NC. Up here in maryland my last gas/electric bill was over 400 and I kept my house heated to 65 degrees and no A/C when it got warm. We have some bullshit gas delivery charge that is almost as much as the cost of the gas ~$120.

This is for a 2000 sqft house from the 70's

Oh, I have seen those. Yeah, I might invest in them since there is a possibly to file this on your taxes and energy efficient, cost-saving materials.

3000 sq feet, 2 story house in northwestern WA.

utilities average probably about $300 or so per month. We split the bills 3 ways, though.

It's still pretty painful.

my previous place had electric baseboard heaters in a 100 year old place with little to no insulation

power bills over $500 in the winter were not unheard of

WORST PLACE EVER

My power bill is about $150 - $180 and peaking around $230 - $275 in the summer. Gas is typically around $30, where a good portion is simply a connection fee. Gas is low because hot water is provided by the building and is incorporated into the monthly HOA fees.

This is in a ~2000 sq ft condo in a highrise on the 22nd floor, so there's the rising heat from 21 floors below me. I'm also in a corner unit with two walls that are nothing but floor-to-ceiling windows, facing south, which warms it up quite a bit.

I have a ~2200 sq ft house, 2 stories, 2 heat pumps.

During the winter, my highest bill was $193, but that was when it was asshole cold
My lowest was last month at $76.

I'm on community water/sewer and it normally runs ~$60 a month. Thats highway robbery IMO, but what do you do?
