In period films when they show black and white archive footage of the actual period, then cut to black and white footage that fades into color and you realize that its part of the movie.

It only bothers me because the new black and white footage never matches the old stuff, so the little voice in my head says "shits about to go colorized".

If the main character is traveling anywhere by plane, there will be a shot of the plane taking off/landing from the behind right when it lifts off/touches down on the runway. If it is a comedy, while it shows the plane taking off/landing, there will be audio of the comic relief character exchanging in some kind of witty conversation with either a flight attendant or another character.

^???

Some ppl are trying too hard here. How is it annoying to see a plane takeoff or land when someone travels? Might as well change thread name to "things that happen in movies"

Anyone saying things like "We've been waiting on him for an hour!" or "He was supposed to be here an hour ago!" just so you know that they've been waiting for a while.

Normal dialogue is more like "He better get here soon. I need to shit."

Driving a car with both arms outstretched with elbows locked to give a sense of "woah this guy is driving fast!"

Slowly approaching a wild deer in the woods like it is some kind of pet that'll warm up to you if you speak nicely to it -- "come here boy, i'm not here to hurt you"

one vehicle is in pursuit of someone, the camera shows the pursuing vehicle drive by a vehicle that the audience knows holds the person of interest

example: Goldfinger after Oddjob crushes the car and hauls it away in a pickup truck, Bond's guys drive by him on the highway afterward

During a car chase, the hero knows all of the alleyways in the city. He's able to swerve in and out of these alleys, doing like 80mph, since they're never blocked (except for some crates of bottled water or fruit and that one kitchen worker in a dirty apron screaming, "Hey!") until the pursuers almost catch up... and the delivery truck pulls out.

Chasing after someone on the subway. The doors always close as you get there, and the bad guy is always giving you that "hey fuck you, guy" look through the glass.

Car chase thru a building/house...scene shows car just about to go thru wall...cuts to peaceful scene inside building for a second before car comes flying thru and everyone freaks...then car somehow manages to avoid all columns and immovable objects and comes out clean on the other side, still in hot pursuit.

Man walks up to a woman and tells her bad or negative, surprising news.

Woman slaps man in the face.

Woman cries and then hugs man.

Closeup of man's face fighting back the tears.

If two people are chasing each other around an urban environment, lately at least one of them will be doing that stupid parkour bullshit, backflipping off of buildings

Dude is back in his old HS where his kids now go, and he points to some trophy/plaque on the wall showing his sports accomplishments, and he's bragging about it, and then his old coach walks by and they have a big reminisce scene, bonus if its cheesy as fuck.

- When two people have a "secret" meeting in public at a restaurant, park bench or cafe, they don't make eye contact when talking to each other - just keep looking around while talking. Of course then they slyly pass an envelope across the table and walk off

- Slap the side of a TV or monitor when the signal goes out or gets fuzzy. They seem to always do this when a security camera is messed up

Guys telling a story, cut to flashback scene and something unrelated to the plot is happening, cuts back to real time and the other other person's like "What does this have to do with..." and the guy is like "Hold on, I'm getting to it"

[Edited on December 13, 2011 at 9:05 PM. Reason : usually its a part where the guy telling the story is doing something badass ]
