Obama's Baby Mama? Really Fox News? Really?

It's really something when Fox News surprises me, but damn.

Throw political leaning to the side... Fox News is by far the least professional news network in existence.

Also, Michelle Malkin is the character that the onion would write about if they wanted to make fun of neocons, except she is a real person.

even used colloquially, that is childish and offensive to use with regard to a presidential candidate's long-time wife. not to mention, they would never say that about a white candidate's wife, republican or democrat

That's messed up, even if it's "just because it sort of rhymes with Obama." Definitely not a valid excuse for a "serious" news organization, and for a bunch of folks who write for a living, it's not even that creative. It's not really valid if you're a redneck who barely graduated high school. I like that it's also still attached to the "That colored lady what's married to the turrist Dem candidate doesn't love Amurrica!" story. I guess if they did it any other way, they wouldn't be Fox News.

^ Of course not.

Of course they are!

I recall debating with your SSP about this fact years ago. When Bush introduced prolonged deficit spending and significant tax cuts simultaneously, TGD (and the administration's) argument was that the deficit would be erased by new tax receipts. Well, that was almost a decade ago.

How's that budget deficit looking?

New tax receipts?

Hmm...

True, but Fox is not a serious "news" organization anyway, at least not their TV channel. Most of it is bad commentary.

In any case, I don't really see this as a big deal. I know plenty of people, white and otherwise, who refer to themselves and their friends as "baby mama." This term may have started with the black community, but it has certainly stretched farther than that by now in our language.

They bill themselves as a news organization. If they came out and said "We're a bunch of stooges playing grab-ass on TV," I wouldn't care.

The objection is that it's inappropriate, like making age jokes or speaking an Asian language around John McCain to see him twitch.

I understand that, but this is low on the list of dumb things Fox does, I think.

You're better off just ignoring it and worrying about more important issues than to feed the selectivity bias the right has of the "whiny liberal" stereotype.

Maybe, but at the same time, letting things like this go makes them think nobody minds. I object more because it's dumb than because it's inappropriate, which along with the lack of real reporting, annoying talking heads and "experts", open conservative bias, and frequent, glaring errors, explains why I'd rather watch CNN or MSNBC (which has been impressing me lately).

I seriously doubt this is a reference to a speech from four years ago. It's a lame attempt to be funny.

McCain has jokingly referred to himself as "older than dirt" but I doubt we'll see similarly "clever" headlines playing that up.

As Paul Harvey says, here's the rest of the story. . .

"Baby Mama" Drama

Quote :
"Salon.com's War Room blog picked up on a lower third used during FNC's America's Election HQ yesterday. During a segment about Michelle Obama, the chyron read, 'Outraged Liberals: Stop Picking on Obama's Baby Mama!'

TVNewser hears higher ups were furious, while tipsters say the producer was attempting to be 'cute' by referencing the movie of the same title.

But SVP of Programming Bill Shine isn't having it. Shine tells TVNewser, 'A producer on the program exercised poor judgment in using this chyron during the segment.'
"

May Ratings: Rankers

Quote :
"FNC had eight of the top 10 cable programs in total viewers during the month of May, and five of the top 10 programs in the A25-54 demo. The O'Reilly Factor, once again, was the top cable news program in both categories. The top CNN program, CNN Election Center (which includes election nights) finished 7th in total viewers and 3rd in the demo. The top MSNBC program, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, finished 19th in total viewers and 8th in the demo. "

the only reason ratings are so high, is because the entire liberal blogosphere is watching Faux News for the non-stop flow of fascist retards parading across the screen.

that, or else it's just the fact that fatass, couch potato conservatives are far more likely to soak up their marching orders from a droning television set than other groups.

DNC, Daily Kos, MoveOn--you know, the usual.

And why not mention that fact that FOX News execs didn't approve the chyron at issue? In addition, anchor John Gibson was recently let go by FNC--no doubt because of some controversial comments that he made.

i thought the only reason fox news got such high ratings is cause cnn and msnbc split the liberals...not to mention the liberals that watch fox news to find reasons to detest repubs

i guess the liberals could NOT watch fox news, thereby lowering fox news viewership...then they could come up with their own topics instead of just talking about what the people on fox news talk about, further taking away the spotlight from fox news...but then who would they make fun of?

Anytime they have the classic format now of having the two people from the different parties just yelling at eachother. I change the channel. Sadly, the other news networks have the same shit on. Usually there is a movie on tbs. It helps

That might work except FOX News' ratings are usually higher than Chicken Noodle News and MSLSD combined.
