I saw WarGames on AMC the other day and thought that movie was mostly , but I never saw it as a kid and so that makes it tough to judge. I can see how it was revolutionary for 1983.

"Come on, it has to be older than the 90's to be actually aged.
I put my vote in for most of the older westerns, Rio Bravo (or pretty much anything with John Wayne), Fistfull of Dollars, etc. They just seem wandering and boring, and they take too long by today's movie standards. Plus, we have much more interesting examples of the anti-hero lone gunman stereotype. Today, if you want a morality play, you usually go to the kung fu flicks for most of the same themes that were previously done by westerns."

How in the hell can you say the Sergio Leone movies have not aged well.

Those movies will be great any time period they are watched

Escape from New York did not age too well

But how are we talking about aging? Special Effects? Ideas? Plot?

One movie that has aged well, as far as Special Effects go, is Jurassic Park

Independence Day

The climax happens ~1 hour into the movie, then it's 90 minutes of wrapping everything up.

Going to have to agree with Tron. I get the point about it being one of the first movies with cgi, but the dialogue is the worst part of the movie to me. When only engineers had any clue what words like ram meant it was probably pretty clever. No longer.

Labyrinth

I rented it recently since my wife had never seen it. Loved it when I was younger, but MAN what a boring ass movie now.

Oh and I thought Robocop's Ford Taurus was awesome as a kid

Air Force One, though it wouldn't be on this list it wasn't for the awful CGI when the plane crashes at the end.

Um, the climax happened when the dude flew his fighter up the anus of the big ship that was about to explode area 51.

^ and if the climax did happen 1 hr into it, that isn't causing the movie to not age well. That would just be stupid writing.

The Last Starfighter.

And I would absolutely LOVE for this to be remade.

Rumor has it that Robocop is slated to be remade within the next 3 years.

I'm pretty sure 90% of the audience was there to see the White House blow up. The part before that was setup and the part after that was resolution. Perhaps "best part" would've been better than "climax".

I'm sitting here trying to watch Star Wars I to ramp up for Rogue One, and it is almost unwatchable. It's basically one long cartoon with a few actual actors involved.

Total Recall is another

And I don't think Jurassic World will stand the test of time either. The original's CGI is almost as good as the CGI in the latest one, and it was done over what, 20 years ago?

Event Horizon use to scare the fucking shit out of me.

I started watching it about a year or two ago and thought it was pretty lame. That was very disappointing.

The CGI in that movie def. hasn't stood the test of time. Sam Neil's face is still pretty freaky though.

Jumper is one movie that has aged super well though. Probably because the special effects were not over the top and they used a lot of real sets instead of green screen.
