you guys sure Eno is still legal? And do you think there would be lots of snakes there? This sounds like a really fun place to check out..

the news release said that visibility was limited to only a few feet..

"yeah anyone who went to hs in wake county knows that place"

yep. i know pretty much everyone i went to school with knew about it. going on weekdays during school hours always avoided it being occupied by other kids and the cops never bothered to check things out at that time of day.

quarries are one of the few things that kinda creep me out though. maybe my imagination runs wild and i've watched to many movies, but they just seem like to perfect of a place for someone to dump a body or something. not to mention animals that get in them one way or another and can't figure out how to get out and drown.

we used to go to the cliffs right beside the dam on falls lake a lot too and various bridges that cross the lake like six forks, highway 98, etc.

i think the most fun/highest jumps i've ever done were a cliff on the gauley river in wv and the oak island bridge into the intercoastal waterway.

There was this old man hanging out there when we used to cut class. He had a moped, we wanted alcohol, he wanted to smoke something we may or may not have had. It was a good trade, he would ride his scooter to buy us beer then he would get ed up by students all afternoon while telling crazy stories.

Oh man

My husband said he used to go cliff diving at the Wendell Quarry when he was a senior in high school (1994), before there were any No Trespassing signs up.

there's actually a "Class of 1995" spray painted on the rocks. My mom went to Millbrook in the early 70s and talks about kids jumping there, and kids dying there. We used to go in high school all the time but you pretty much have to get dropped off, jump a few times, and then get back to your car. the farmer that lives near the tracks calls the cops in a heartbeat. it must be one of the most responded to calls in Wendell.

on a side note, my friend jumped off some cliffs near WCU her first week of college and broke her back. nearly severed her spine. she was in a body cast for months and never ended up going back to college. be careful how you land.

We've dumped the cremated remains of a buddy into the Wendell Quarry. Lots of memories there.
