I'm trying to put some apps on my 89 via USB and can't get windows to recognize it on the USB port.
I've downloaded TI-connect and when I plugged in the calculator, windows "found" the driver and said hardware installed successfully, however TI-connect only sees COM1 and COM3 (neither of which are being used for the 89) I've also checked Device Manager and can't see the TI-89 USB driver as an installed device.
I'm going to try it on my Linux machine, but if anyone has any input or any success stories about getting this thing to work that would be great 8/3/2008 1:08:17 PM |

well,i finally got it working. i guess i'll post what i did in case someone needs this in the future.
1) Uninstall ALL TI-related applications from your PC (TI-connect, Tilp, etc) 2) Install the latest version of TI-connect (http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/nonProductMulti/download_stepbystep.html?bid=2) 3) Connect the calculator. If this is your first time, then you'll get the New Hardware Wizard. If this happens, skip to the next step. If not, you'll need to delete the drivers (tiehdusb.sys and/or libusb0.sys) from windows\system32\drivers directory. Go into Device Manager and you will probably see an exclamation point next to a driver in LibUSB-Win32 Devices and choose to update the driver 4) Do not let it install automatically. Choose to Select the driver Manually. If it asks you to pick between two drivers that it found, choose "TI Handheld Education Device".
that should make it work. from what i've found by googling around, this is a common problem with the usb interface on the 89 titanium and the 84+SE.

the hard part was finding out WHICH driver would make it work. there isn't jack shit about this on TI's website and from what i've gathered on other forums, this is a fault of theirs 8/3/2008 4:51:09 PM |
