haha, so what you’re saying is that you, hooksaw, who blindly hates anything that the democrats and Obama does, have no other agenda with that statement, than just stating it?

lol

You realize that when considered with the message you are vainly trying to push, the statement makes no sense?

^ I'll post it again for you.

"Except that has nothing to do with the facts. Obama campaigned on closing Guantanamo Bay and he signed an executive order in January 2009 ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay:

'Sec. 3. Closure of Detention Facilities at Guantánamo. The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than 1 year from the date of this order. If any individuals covered by this order remain in detention at Guantánamo at the time of closure of those detention facilities, they shall be returned to their home country, released, transferred to a third country, or transferred to another United States detention facility in a manner consistent with law and the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.'

Furthermore, Obama reiterated in November 2009 that he would close Guantanamo Bay--yet he has failed to do so. To point this out is not 'transparent trolling'--it is simply stating facts.

His only failing was underestimating how cowardly and partisan the republicans are.

Technically, Obama has until January 22 to close the Guantánamo detention facility before he has failed to do so in accordance with his executive order. You can put your dick back in your pants until then.

In any case, do you have any proof that Obama has stopped working towards closing the facility, or that he is no longer committed to doing so?

lol at hooksaw referring to others as 'bitter partisan hacks'.

hooksaw while true, I could just as easily phrase is as

Quote :
"Bitter partisan hacks here (and elsewhere) will continue to defend resist and fight Obama no matter how many promises he breaks and how much flip-flopping good actions he performs or actually legitimately good polices he wants to enact he does--while Republicans ignoreing the facts and continueing to attack me playing partisan hacks and vie to regain power in 2012? Check."

Freed Guantánamo inmates are heading for Yemen to join al-Qaeda fight

Quote :
"At least a dozen former Guantánamo Bay inmates have rejoined al-Qaeda to fight in Yemen, The Times has learnt, amid growing concern over the ability of the country’s Government to accept almost 100 more former inmates from the detention centre.

The Obama Administration promised to close the Guantánamo facility by January 22, a deadline that it will be unable to meet. The 91 Yemeni prisoners in Guantánamo make up the largest national contingent among the 198 being held.

Six prisoners were returned to Yemen last month. After the Christmas Day bomb plot in Detroit, US officials are increasingly concerned that the country is becoming a hot-bed of terrorism. Eleven of the former inmates known to have rejoined al-Qaeda in Yemen were born in Saudi Arabia. The organisation merged its Saudi and Yemeni offshoots last year.

The country’s mountainous terrain, poverty and lawless tribal society make it, in the opinion of many analysts, a close match for Afghanistan as a new terrorist haven."

is any reasonable person surprised they are going back to fight?

odds are, they are either fanatical to begin with and would go back to fight at age 90 if released, they became a follower of al-queda while locked up, or have no place else to go.

like it or not, you cant just release them into the wild.

Very good 30 minute documentary about 2 detainees who were released without charge after many years and thrown in Kazakhstan, which according to said detainees, is worse than Guantanamo

Vice goes to Kazakhstan and meets them

Quote :
"It didn't take long for candidates hoping to replace President Barack Obama to weigh in on his plan to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Republican presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Tuesday he "profoundly disagrees" with the proposal.

"These are people, some of them are the worst of the worst. Why would we send them into our country?" Kasich told Fox News Tuesday. "I profoundly disagree."

The President's plan, submitted to Congress on Tuesday, would move the majority of detainees to other countries, while moving those who are deemed too dangerous to an undetermined detention facility in the United States.

RELATED: Obama still plans to shut Guantanamo. Can he?

Ben Carson, speaking to CNN's Poppy Harlow on Tuesday afternoon, said he wouldn't close Guantanamo until a better location was found to interrogate detainees.

"Where do we have that can take these prisoners of war?" Carson asked. "I'm not seeing what the alternative is, quite frankly.""

So is the party line to bitch, complain, and disagree with what Obama does no matter what?

Is there a real fiscal or security risk with Obama's strategy. From my viewpoint this seemed like a common sense, no big deal type of action. I was surprised that Republitards are crying over this too....
