I truely think the Steelers will not make the playoffs. Here's why: Steelers' next 5 weeks: @NE, Dal, @BAL, @TEN, Cle. I see 1 definite win in there: Cle. I think they lose the rest. NE is really coming together and you know damn well that Bellicheck is going to pressure the hell out of Big Ben. Dallas will beat them in Dallas just cuz they are a better team. Baltimore barely lost in PIT and I think Baltimore is coming around too and I see them taking this game. Tennessee will beat them in Tennessee. And they will beat Cleveland handily. If all this happens they end up 9-7. Titans get #1 seed (14-2), NYJ get #2 seed (13-3; easy ass schedule) , Ravens get #3 (11-5; @Cin, Was, Pit, @Dal, Jax....I see 1 loss in there being to Dallas), Broncos get #4 (9-7; horrible division), Colts get #5 (12-4; they win out in reg season), and #6 is Patriots (11-5; Pit, @sea, @oak, Ari, @buf....I see 2 POSSIBLE losses in Pit and Ari but I think they handle Pit). Blame your not making playoffs on Pats and Colts. 2 teams that have come on strong lately, especially Colts.

Bottom line: Steelers have a ridiculous schedule here and I feel for them. Also, I have seen a definite drop in play by them over the last few weeks or in Lamen's terms, Big Ben sucks.

I remember about 4 years ago I made a thread about how bad the Steelers were. This was in 2004 when they went 15-1. My points and arguments were similar to yours, and focused mainly on a weak playoff history and a very average QB (Rothlisberger). Well, as it turned out they almost and should have lost to a shitty Jets team in their first playoff game, then got destroyed by the Pats the following week. Basically validated what I said, but honestly nobody really wanted to hear it.

Yes, you're right about the Steelers and Panthers. I don't think either one is a high quality team. I honestly don't think Carolina is one of the top 6 teams in the NFC. I would probably rank them #8ish. And Pittsburgh.... well I don't think they're any good either. It annoys me how they are at the top of a division with Cincy, Cleveland, and Baltimore every year and every year they are given instant credibility. They were basically handed the Superbowl by the refs a couple years ago, but other than that, they have floundered in playoff mediocrity for as long as I can remember. I'd probably rank them #5 in the AFC right now.

But the whole point of my post is.... quit being a dick. This is NC State. Yes, I imagine that most people know that Carolina is not really that good, despite their record. But this is the state's team, and of course they are going to cheer for them and have visions of a Superbowl win despite the odds (hey they almost puled it off a few years back.) Same thing goes for the Steelers.

So in conclusion, you're neither original nor smart by making these threads. You're a dick who for whatever reason tries to get self-validation by making them. Just let people cheer for their teams. There is a huge difference between making a statement in a thread about a team and starting a thread with the sole intention of starting shit. You're pretty much just a douche.

haha instead of witty under the breath comments, why dont you guy explain how the Steelers will make it in. I believe my case for them is equally as strong as the Panthers not making it in. Maybe a little stronger. I am more certain that they will not make it in then I am the Panthers not making it in.

They're going to make it too. Baltimore is pretty much they're only competition, and they have almost as tough a schedule....Baltimore and Pitt are almost mirror images of each other, except Balt. has a rookie qb and a worse WR group.

and Pitt is 1 game up on Balt with a head to head left...if the Ravens lose that one (which they probably will), they have pretty much no shot.

Haha. Hate to do again to you Tree but you are the retarded one. Baltimore's offense is actually 13th best in the league. Pittsburgh's is 23rd. YOU TRULY KNOW NOTHING.

anyone who would say that the Ravens have a better offense than the Steelers is either retarded, completely oblivious to the fact that Big Ben and Fast Willie missed games this year, or both

the Ravens are fucking 29th in passing yards per game...but if you're being your usual retarded self and going off points per game, you probably wouldnt notice that the Ravens have 4 defensive touchdowns this year and the Steelers have zero

maybe if you knew what stats were relevant you wouldnt keep playing yourself

But lets look at the Baltimore and Pitt division winner stuff because I think we all agree that only the division winner goes to playoffs out of this division. Baltimore has: @Cin, Was, Pitt, @Dal, Jax.
Lets break it down: They def beat Cincy; Washington gets beat in Baltimore because their offense will turn the ball over alot and its in Baltimore; Pitt is a good game that I think goes to Baltimore, Bal almost beat them in Pitt and Baltimore is a better team now and Pitt is not; Baltimore loses in Dallas; Jax is a big time dissappointment this season and will get their offense shut down in Baltimore.

Lets look at Pitts: @NE, Dal, @Bal, @Ten, Cle. Lets break it down: 3 of next 4 is on the road in hostile environements against very good teams. New England WILL beat Pitt. Its very easy to stop the Steelers offensively and no one is better at uncovering weaknesses than Bill B. Dal will be a good close game. This really depends on how Romo is gelling with TO come this time. I think the Boys will be firing on all cylinders come this contest, but actually Im going to change my previous prediction and give it to Pitt. Baltimore is a another good one, but its a div rival in Baltimore, I give this one to Bal. Tennessee is another good game but I think they are too balanced for the Steelers and its in Tennessee. Pitt beats Cleveland.

So in the end, I have Baltimore 11-5 and I have Pitt 10-6 (and I'm giving you either the Tennessee game or the Dallas game but not both). Sorry to break it to you all but its going to be a nasty ending.

Wrong again. Big Ben sat out 1 half of a game, a game in which Leftwich came in a tore it up, improving Pitt's offensive rank. Fast Willie has missed some time but Mewelde Moore has filled in incredibly good.

There is a website called NFL.com. Since you dont know shit as of now, go read up and then come back and post.

^^ravens have 4 defensive touchdowns, steelers have zero...your idea of "better offense" is strictly based on points per game...which is fucking retarded because the ravens have scored more points overall because of defensive touchdowns

go back to nfl.com and learn which stats are relevant

points per game != offensive points per game

Who cares how they put points on the board be it with special teams, defense or offense. Their team scoring is 13trh best in the league, Pitts is 23rd. Plain and simple. No other info needed. And just to talk about offense, Baltimore actually gains more yds per game than Pitt, if you want to get down to it. Sorry I guess you got confused again. Its what happens when you mess with stuff you dont know shit about.

And Big Ben has 11 ints this season, so go ahead and mark a def td or at least a td induced by the def when pitt plays Balt.

Meh, basically balt has to win the head to head match up in addition to winning 2 more overall than pitt. (pitt would likely hold any tiebreaker over balt...assuming same record, same division record 5-1....iirc it then goes to conf. record and only 1 of pitt's losses has been in the afc where all but 1 of balt losses has been in the afc.)

so if pitt finishes 2-3, balt has to finish 4-1...sorry but not gonna happen

and for the record, I hate the steelers.

Now heres a good informational post. Finally. You are right. My only argument with you is that Pitt still has to play @NE, @Ten, and @Bal (all AFC), which could bring down that AFC record of theirs. And also, the 2nd tiebreak isnt conference games, I just looked it up and its actually common games. Big game was against Philly. Pitt got beat and Baltimore won. Thats the only game as of right now that had a different outcome for both teams. And this is all assuming that Balt win against Pitt. The Dallas games for both team are huge.

lol nice backpeddling from your claim about Baltimore having the 13th best "offense"...I'm glad you're now calling it "team scoring" since thats what you meant all along. How about that 29th ranked passing offense Baltimore has? What a great offense! Maybe you shouldnt poorly attempt to call out other people for not knowing about stats when you clearly have no fucking clue yourself

Ok again, you were proven wrong and now trying to pick at small details like when I said offense instead of team scoring. I admit that mistake, but its a mistake with an asterisk because it still means they put up more points than the Steelers do, which is my original point of stating those stats.

well that complicates things a bit more but the fact remains that balt must play markedly better than pitt to get in, and I don't see that happening.

but just like the panthers/bucs, winning the head to head matchup will be the most important part.

Well my original point was that Batimore would beat Pitt, and in backing that up I said they had a better offense (when in reality they are 1 point a game back from the Steelers), but what I meant to say was that they are the 13th highest scoring team in the league while Pitt is 23rd. Either way my point is made, we are just arguing over word choice.

ya, I 100% agree with you on the head to head being by far the most important game of both of their seasons going forward; but do you not agree that Pitts schedule is considerably harder than Balt's. @ CIN,@ BAL, PIT,@ DAL, JAC or @NE, DAL, @BAL, @TEN, CLE

I really do believe that if Balt beats Pitt that Balt win this division by at least 1 game. I really dont know how the Steelers beat the Chargers this past weekend. That was a piss poor game played by both teams. I really think the reason that the Steelers offense is so sorry this year is because the loss of Faneca. They are not running like they used to run on people. I mean Parker was the leading rusher last year before he got hurt. He was able to take the pressure off Big Ben. Big Ben had good numbers last year but he also didnt throw that much. This year they are asking him to throw more and its really hurting their offense.

OH AND THIS JUST IN, Steelers may be without Parker, Keisel, Townshend, McFadden, and Marvel this weekend. THEY WILL LOSE THIS EVEN IF SOME OF THEM PLAY http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80ccda11&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Very true here. Pitt is a team that can turn it on just like that, but every since Ben has been there, the Steelers have had a top 10 running game (most of the time in the top 5), this year they are something like 22nd. And mix that in with the Steelers being a bottom dweller when it comes to passing, they are not set up for a playoff run. Instead, they are perfectly set up for a end of season dissappointment (thanks to scheduling).

But why do you have complete confidence in the Ravens' rookie QB? Ben has at least shown he can do it, because he's been there. I thought they'd fall off the map when Bettis left since Pitt depends so much on the running game (specifically pounding it up the gut on 3rd and short) but they proved me wrong. And the Ravens defense is better than it was last year but don't act like they're the 2001 Super Bowl defense. Why do you have confidence in Joe Flacco to lead an offense to the playoffs in a competitive division (at least one team is competeitive)? What makes you think he won't fold in the clutch like Romo?
