just go to cosmic cantina on 9th street.I'm big business and i approved this message.
12/19/2008 1:13:14 PM
pretty much any mexican joint
12/19/2008 1:13:33 PM
You're in Colorado and your looking for the kind of crap they have in Raleigh? A random hotel restaurant there will have better Mexican food than the best i found in Raleigh. But I'm from New Mexico so my tastes are more suited to that region.
12/19/2008 1:14:36 PM
^sir i beg to differ but las tres is one of the east coasts premiere carved & painted chair dining establishments
12/19/2008 1:20:28 PM
We have a shit-ton of Mexicans. Is it so hard to believe the Mexican food might be good?
12/19/2008 1:21:32 PM
casa bonita is the only mexican in the whole state you should be concerned with heh

^^^ I lived in Raleigh for 6 years, I was always trying to find a good mecian place. They had a few good ones but they never stayed in business. Apparently all that people around there will support are places like chicos.[Edited on December 19, 2008 at 1:25 PM. Reason : ^]

Where are you in Denver? It's a big city... Guadalajara is good, so is Tres Margaritas - those are the only chains I know of. There are other non-chains but they could be 30 miles from you.
12/19/2008 1:25:56 PM
live in downtown. everything i have tried so far has the tex mex taste, kind of bland. And they don't have the white cheese dip!
12/19/2008 1:36:20 PM
go to my brothers bar and get a yummy burger instead!!or chedds and eat some grilled cheese
12/19/2008 1:37:46 PM
that explains why you like the mexican in raligh, see when i was there i was missing the green chile and mole. In raleigh i felt like they were just forming southern food into mexican food shapes with all that grease and cheese.
12/19/2008 1:38:17 PM
yeah i stayed in NM 3 nights on my road trip and the mexican cuisine was a bit dissappointing2 fair restaraunts compared to raleighalthough of course i did get one homecooked mexican meal that made me jizz in my pants

^ don't be so hasty, if he has some idea of a goal were working towards I'd like to hear about it. Maybe were like a realization of the 1000 monkeys 1000 typewriters project.

sneakuz there are plenty of good places on Larimer between 16th and 23rd. There are also plenty of bums and pawn shops in that section. I can't remember the names of the Mexi places though.
12/19/2008 1:57:10 PM
I never said it had a point. But what is the thought process that leads someone to making a thread on a message board populated mostly by college students at NCSU about advice on food in Colorado instead of simply consulting google?Good for him for getting legit answers, but this still seems to be a dumb way to go about this.[Edited on December 19, 2008 at 1:58 PM. Ronny, i did try google. and city search, and some other sites. those sites did not give me the answers i was looking for, thus my post on tww. i wanted to see if anybody who is familiar with how mexican tastes in raleigh had discovered a similar restaurant in the denver area, as i have not.
12/19/2008 2:04:32 PM
NCSUwolfy, where is your brothers place? And, i live right above Cheds. haven't tried it yet but have heard good things
12/19/2008 2:05:46 PM
Chedds is ftw. You live on Pearl? There is a really good place across from the aquarium about two miles away. The restaurant in the aquarium is really good and they have Mexi food. I'd just walk over towards Coors Field and hit up Lawrence/Larimer or just go to Flying Dog or something.
12/19/2008 2:15:16 PM
a mexican restaurant?
12/19/2008 2:15:39 PM
taco bell
12/19/2008 2:18:44 PM
My family has eaten at this place for like 30 years:La Casa de Manuel3158 Larimer StDenver, COI last went there this summer, it's kind of ghetto but delicious...I can't remember if they have cheese dip though
12/19/2008 2:20:00 PM
That section of Larimer is one of the worst areas of Denver.
12/19/2008 2:23:50 PM
that's how you know its good.
12/19/2008 2:27:01 PM
pearl and 19th. thanks for the suggestions

12/19/2008 2:40:37 PM

12/19/2008 2:42:20 PM
that part of larimer is terrible....when we were there some homeless people fighting in the parking lot. the food is worth it though.[Edited on December 19, 2008 at 2:55 PM. Reason : k;l]

Benny's is the best i've found. They have pretty good margaritas too. I've never had their queso, so i'm not sure if it's what you're looking for. I've looked and looked for a place similar to El Rodeo in Denver, but never found it. Everything is, like you said, tex-mex. Denver sucks. Get out while you still can.
12/19/2008 5:07:09 PM

^I used to live in fort collins, but basically lived near 17th and Grant for a few years (spent all my weekends there). I now live in San Francisco and i'm much happier.

I've had mexican food in downtown Albuquerque. Awesomely tasty and spicy! But El Rodeo and El Dorado aren't that great here. Fiesta Mexicana over at Swift Creek near Food Lion is really good though.
12/20/2008 4:42:49 AM
^^^Colfax Ave is rough in spots.... Unfortunately, some of the bums make there way over to that neighborhood. I am in Bonnie Brae/Belcaro and we see bums sometimes, like when we drive 5 miles away from our neighborhood, haha. You live within a mile of at least three TWW'ers btw.
