Autoblog has some serious new pics of Splinter. The old topic is dead, so figured I would start a new one of it. Hit the link to check them out.

I can't wait to see those wooden rims fly apart.

Was reverse flow really necessary? Seems a little silly. Of course the thing is just a big wad of kindling.

Quote :
"A twin-supercharged V8 makes a lot of horsepower. Along with this power comes a lot of heat. Wood isn't particularly fond of excessive heat, so we wanted to keep the engine heat off the wood as much as possible. In an attempt to quickly remove the heat from the engine bay, we decided to run the exhaust out of the top of the engine by reversing the flow of the cylinder heads. From there, we realized that we could also put the muffler and its heat outside by letting it serve double duty as the wing. Just don't lean on the wing after turning in hot laps; your arm might stick to it, and that just isn't cool. "

I want to see it too, but I'd probably get a huge wood.

Splinter has competition! Well, maybe not in performance, but definitely in the wood category...

https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/5928330999.html

This vehicle is a master piece, and is of Museum quality, Its a self made Oak wood body on a 1936 Ford running gear, with a rebuilt flat head 60 hp V-8 engine, it was made in the late 90's by a disabled veteran, who at the time was the Tn State Commander of the VFW, ( now deceased ) working with wood was his therapy after a injury.. It is a people magnet at car shows, parades, grand openings, etc..It purrs like a kitten, drives well, stops well, even with the mechanical brakes. It comes with its own garage, a 06, 26', tandem axle trailer, towed less than 3,000 miles, with the drop down rear door. The car is one of one, never to be another..Reply back for any more information, etc..The price is very reasonable at $22,000 for both.....
