Can we get a countdown clock for the impending Carlos Zambrano/Milton Bradley dugout brawl?

I dig the Miles signing. Peavy trade could still be in the works.

Go cubs go
hey chicago what do you say
cubs are going to win today...

Seriously though, sad to see Kerry go, as a human being and leader as much as a player. He has done alot for the cubs and charities around Chicago. Hope he does well with the tribe.

Also has marquis been officially traded yet, I'd rather go a four man rotation than have him in there

it's very common in Venezuela for a father to kiss his children, especially after they win the World Series

This summer, Lou Piniella is teaching WS 101

Glad somebody brought up this one!

I'm kinda ticked about the DeRosa trade, he was one of those players who would play wherever, and do (at least) a decent job AND he could hit. I don't know much about Miles, though.

^^ and ^^^

You guy's married yet? Whenever a Cub topic comes you two love birds have to chime in. And, fwiw, no matter how many World Series the Sox win you'll still be irrelevant in your own city.

i think it's better to be irrelevant but have a WS ring than to be the punchline of every sports joke that refers to futility

Sure is a lot of dealing and signing going on it seems with the cubbies. There surely will be a few new faces on the roster that I'm not used to. Not really sure about the Milton Bradley signing being that he only played like 30 games in the outfield all last year while he DHed the rest of the games. I also hate that they traded Derosa....I feel like he was the core of the team and definitely had a lot of heart!

^But the cubs needed to break up all the right handers.. It was our only weakness (besides choking haha). Derosa was the only one that could go... Lee, Ramirez,Fukudome,Theriot, Soriano, and Soto weren't going anywhere.

It sucks we had to trade him but it was the only option...

Derosa for Bradley is a horrible substitution.

Bradley is very talented no doubt and can rake. He can't field at all and will play 50 games a year.

Derosa was underrated badly....

I watched every game Cub last year and disagree with you on Dero vs Bradley.

I will miss Derosa, but he had a career year last season. Miles and Fontenot will be just fine replacing him. Bradley's left handed bat is huge for our lineup. If he were to go down for any significant time, Micah Hoffpauir (who proved he could hit) could step in and replace him.

I think that DeRosa had a career year in 08 because he finally started an overwhelming majority of games. I hate losing him. Fontenot has the ability to be the everyday guy at 2nd but DeRosa brought so much more to the team with his consistency and versatility. Remember that homer he hit in Game 1? The rest of the series obviously sucked but that was a great moment. I'm gonna miss his seeming unflappability and his blog.

Jury is still out on Bradley. Probably still out on Soriano too for that matter. I can't make myself like that guy. I am looking forward to seeing more Hoffpauir. DLee has seen better days. Go Cubs Go, let's stop the streak at 101!

yeah his career .632 OPS and five (5!!!!!!) walks would make me disagree with you on him being a good hitter period

but he is a lot better than probably any other NL pitcher at hitting

Cubs win, Cards lose, Z looks good, Fukudome still sucks, Hoffpauir should probably start over Lee, Fontenot looked great, Bradley is good but clearly a dumbass, Gregg apparently has herpes on his lip, and I wanna see Reed Johnson in Center.

I think Lilly gets paid extra when he gives up solo home runs, because he sure has been doing it forever. I swear he never gives up a run any other way. BUT... GO CUBS GO
