Yeah I've had to pull my younger son (middle child) out of a pool a couple of times. The first time, my wife, myself and our kids had driven to a hotel to visit some friends who were visiting the area. We were at the pool and our boys were playing on the stairs. I think they were 5 and 3 at the time and they had lots of experience in a pool, but wouldn't ever leave the stairs by themselves. Well my wife wanted a pic with our friends and they were in the deep end. I was in the middle of the pool (not a big pool. typical indoor pool and we were the only ones there) with the camera facing them with my boys behind me on the stairs. I was facing them for a good little while because my wife and her girl friend kept poking/tickling each other and I couldn't get a good pic. After a while I realized that my oldest had been yelling for me for probably 30-45 seconds but hadn't really noticed due to the high pitched squealing of my wife and her friend. When I finally turned around, I saw my 3 year old under water. I was only a few feet away from the stairs and I guess he thought he could jump to me. He almost drowned and he was only a couple of feet away from me. Scary

The other time was about a year later and we were visiting my parents' house and they have a pool in the backyard. It was early fall but dad hadn't closed the pool for the year yet. Son (now 4) went to the back yard to play with the dog. I went out and sat on the porch to keep an eye on him and just relax and stare at the lake behind their house. After 10 or 15 mins, from the opposite end of the yard, he just starts yelling (think "warrior" yell as he runs into battle) and runs up to the pool and jumps straight into the deep end without slowing down at all. After I jumped in, grabbed him and placed him on the side of the pool, he just grins at me and says, "thanks" and then turns around and starts yelling and running back to the other side of the yard

He is now 8 and has since broken his arm twice and almost completely scalped himself when he made a hammock in his room and secured one side to the dresser only to have it fall on his head. The kid is adventurous
