I just watched Delicatessen.

It's decent.

But Jeunet is pretty silly.

Funny Games is far from incredible. It is watchable, I guess. but I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE MICHAEL HANEKE. TWICE.

TELL NO ONE

it is long (like slightly over 2 hours)

but i really enjoyed it and i'm glad i picked it.

oh but its french soooo subtitles. not so good for those of you who cannot read and watch a movie at the same time

its a crime drama, btw.

If you can't watch a film with subtitles you probably shouldn't be watching film.

(Not speaking to you, personally)

true.

but (and not in this thread, i don't think) i've definitely read ppl on tww complaining about subtitles before. and france. and all things foreign. so i figured i'd include a disclaimer.

it has kristin scott thomas in it. who is apparently in a lot of french movies. i guess she lives there or whatever though.

oh and also i have a rant

ok netflix instant watch recommends movies or whatever but its always recommending me these documentaries and they always have like 4 or 5 stars. i mean some are good but this one, the end of poverty, seems like one of those documentaries that people who are dumb as shit find SOooOOooOOO profound. i mean, i haven't watched it obviously so maybe it is. but description:

Quote :
"Exploring the history of poverty in developing countries, filmmaker Philippe Diaz contends that today's economic inequities arose as a result of colonization, military conquest and slavery, with wealthier countries seizing the resources of the poor. Narrated by Martin Sheen, this absorbing documentary includes interviews with numerous historians, economists and sociologists who shed light on the ongoing conditions that contribute to poverty."

i mean really? do people seriously not already know this?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Just watched it last night. A foreign mystery movie. So this means subtitles. A long movie but I liked it.

Loved the Orphanage. Not your typical horror movie, more of a suspense flick.

i thought it was AWESOME

comedies are usually the only movies i can't watch over and over.
dramas, horrors, and suspense movies dont really have that much repeatablity for me.

the orphanage did

i'm about to watch after innocence

a documentary about the implications of DNA testing in the judicial system and what happens to innocent people who have been locked up for years and years upon release. i shall report back on whether it is worth the watch!

i was GOING to watch au revoir les enfants but...i think i'm too tired for something that isn't a documentary. this is much shorter.

^^I, too, was surprised how good that movie was.

I was expecting something very mediocre... but then I heard some of the voice actors. Also it started being genuinely funny and didn't resort to using dreamworks-style childish humor.

Steve the monkey in Cloudy is infinitely funnier than Dug and the talking dogs in Up.

The "Fight The Power" cat internet video they watch for three hours was amazing.

The reference to the movie "Welcome to Mooseport" was amazing.

God it's such a good movie.

<3 you MrsCake.

^ i am glad someone else watched it!

i watched that and dear zachary last night. i was emotionally spent haha

^^^^ oh i have issues concentrating on things. documentaries (though boring to other people) usually interest me 100% of the time. just like i can focus more on reading news stories and other non-fiction things more than fiction i guess i can focus better on documentaries than on a made up plot??

i dunno i am a weirdo.

Dear Zachary took a LOT out of me. I pretty much cried the entire time from beginning to end. I want to watch it again but I'm going to need to prepare myself with a pint of some really good ice cream and a new box of Kleenex (I'm almost done with a box already due to a cold )
