I met a lot of Raleigh people there this weekend
did any Tdubbers attend?
for those that don't know Transformus is the southeast regional burn (think Burning Man) 7/20/2010 8:48:44 PM |

I met some NCSU grad students and some Triangle area software developers there
figured some of those weirdos might overlap with this group of weirdos
I guess not 7/20/2010 9:56:29 PM |

I know a few people that went, but they are not on TWW, and I did not go with them. I went to Bass @ The Beach instead. I heard it was a very strange kind of festival, and you were supposed to "gift" people things instead of buy stuff with money. I haven't heard anything about how it was yet, though. 7/20/2010 10:59:08 PM |
Snewf All American 63368 Posts user info edit post |
yeah there is no money allowed you bring enough for yourself and if you have extra you give it away
there's a lot of gifting which basically results in free booze vendors, bars and restaurants all over the place
I had an awesome time
there was a giant robotic dragon breathing fire and all sorts of insane shit - I was wearing my flashing LED jellyfish costume while I was there.
The only bad things were the rain (and subsequent parking clusterfuck) and the tree that fell on my tent and could have killed me. 7/21/2010 8:31:01 AM |

Nice. I'm still not sure where I'm camping. A lot of friends of mine I thought were going didn't actually get tickets. 7/11/2011 4:24:07 PM |

I'm guessing you probably met some people I know, likely from Greensboro or Asheville, but I've never been. I don't know what I'd do there since I'm married and don't really like drugs. Life is scary enough sober. 7/11/2011 4:25:51 PM |

I didn't take any while I was there because I was too busy being stunned by all of the amazing
other things I did at Transformus:
- soaped up naked and rocketed down a 150 foot water slide
- toasted marshmallows with a flamethrower
- rode on a robotic dragon
- jumped on a trampoline covered in glowing lights 7/19/2011 11:39:39 AM |

^^ there are LOADS of women
^ there are no bands but there are lots of DJs the event is not a music festival and all of the entertainment is provided by the attendees if you want to see a band play at Transformus then bring the band along! 7/19/2011 12:31:36 PM |

It is difficult for me to put into words how great of an experience this was.
Deerfields is a GORGEOUS venue and this event was filled with SO MANY really great people!
I will most definitely be returning again 7/19/2011 1:01:08 PM |

I had never heard of this and hit up google images - immediately found pics of someone I went to high school with. She was a bitch but I'm sure the other people are cooler, or the drugs mellowed her out. Looks like late night dj crowd at Bonnaroo. 7/19/2011 1:05:47 PM |

What percentage of people stay sober at these things? I'd just be scared of getting really fucked up on bad drugs and not having a sober friend to help me out and freaking out while everyone else is lighting their heads on fire or something. 7/19/2011 4:58:11 PM |

^you bring enough supplies (water, food, camping equipment, and anything else you might want) to live through the weekend, and give people things such as food, drinks, pieces of art, etc.

It is a volunteer run event, and there are plenty of sober people officiating that can help situations such as these. Unlike other festivals I've been to like All Good (though this isn't a music festival per se), there are not drugs all over the place. If that's your thing, you should be sure to bring with you anything you want for the duration of the event.

yes, though there are similar events in other places around the country during the summer
I'm still astounded at how incredibly positive the vibe was there. Definitely a more pleasurable experience for me than music festivals like All Good, Electric Forest, and Bonnaroo.7/19/2011 11:05:21 PM |
