Does anyone know if Dr. Boles left because he's not even in the directory. Just lost because i've been registered for mae301 w/ boles but yesterday it had Lyons as the professor...lol but today its back to Boles as the listed instructer. Just wondering if anyone heard if hes finally left or not.

I don't know anything about him retiring. To my knowledge, he is not. Not yet anyway.

He is retiring. This year he's teaching one section each semester, 301 in fall and 302 in spring

I took MAE 301 over the summer and he was pretty cool because he said you wouldn't be taking this class over the summer if you didn't care. So I think he made it a little easier on the summer classes.

However, there was one kid in the class who left his cell phone on and actually got up and walked out of the class to answer it.... pretty sure he didn't pass.

Last semester one of my teammates in MAE 415 had his calculator out doing a calculation related to what he was going over in MAE 407 (steam and gas turbines). Well, Boles thought it was a cell phone (he had a TI-83 in his hands, which as you know, is a pretty large calculator). So Boles started yelling at him, but my teammate didn't realize it.

After a while, everyone was staring at him, and my teammate finally looked up after finishing the calculation and asked, "Are you talking to me?" To which Boles replied, "Yeah, put that cell phone away." My friend showed him that it was a calculator, which Boles just said, "Oh." and continued with his lecture like nothing had happened.
