"Obama has cautioned that the airstrike campaign will be a "long-term project."
"I don't think we're going to solve this problem in weeks," the President told reporters Saturday.
But he reiterated his vow that no U.S. combat troops will join the fight.

And despite U.S. strikes, ISIS militants reportedly captured Iraq's largest hydroelectric dam, just north of Mosul, the nation's second-largest city.
The militant fighters have been using U.S.-made weapons seized during fighting from the Iraqi army, including M1 Abrams tanks, local officials said."

Very Rumsfeld-esque statements by Obama...

And if ISIS took these cities in a matter of days, why can't they be beat back in a similar amount of time?

Seems like a giant mess.

This is silly. It's just silly beliefs and words. If your choice is to either "convert" or die, you should probably convert (which means nothing, it's just a word).... of course, they'd probably be killed anyways.

If humanity stopped considering words/places/books/things/ideas sacred the world would become instantly better.

Meh, lies. Forces are already on the ground, if not straightout special ops, then OGA, or NGO.

^ Agreed... "Combat Troops" being the caveat. Everything else is already on the ground.

I think there were a few anecdotes of just that. Got a non-Muslim to convert then chopped off their head with the warm feeling knowing that their immortal soul was now safe.
