Yeah it's definitely easy to take care of now

But since we decided not to find out the sex we're doubly anxious at this point. "what are you?!"

I hope all the soon to be Mommies and daddies have a breezy last few weeks. It's so exciting!

Not much longer!

I will agree that it is SOOOOOO much easier to take care of them when they are in our tummies! But they are so much cuter on the outside.

Any of you guys have any experience with reflux? I think that Bailey has a case of silent reflux (where they don't have the insane amounts of spit up but still have the pain).

Yes. My first one had awful reflux and our second one seems like she's going to travel the same path.

With our older one, we tried every non-medical remedy that we could: keeping him upright, feeding less more often, adding rice cereal, etc. but none of it helped. Silas would turn red, choke, spit up, cry and cry, his weight gain was also very sluggish. The doctor finally agreed to start him on liquid Zantac after he witnessed Silas have an episode right in the exam room. The Zantac made a huge difference and practically eliminated all of the feeding problems that we were having. We were able to discontinue the Zantac by the time Silas was 2 years old.

With our newborn, we're feeding her smaller meals more often and keeping her semi-upright, even when she's sleeping. Her pediatrician wants to give her longer to adjust to this whole outside world thing before going any farther with treating it.

My wife and I never thought that she would get pregnant because she had been told before by a doctor that it would never happen, AND We have been a couple off of birth control for about 2 years... And it never happened.

Then, two days ago she wakes up sick and puking and calls in to work. She was convinced that she was getting ready to start her cycle, so I got a pregnancy test just for the hell of it.

It turns out that she is pregnant.

Believe me, when i saw that second line slowly get darker and darker until you could obviously see the "+", I was all FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK! It made her upset a little bit, but I was just shocked.

So, now I will be very much a fan of this thread.

I was watching a movie called "the box" when my wife walked in the room to tell me. Oh the irony.

Did your reaction hurt her?

I definitely felt bad about what I did. Honestly though, I was just shocked not angry.

lol

That was me with our second one. I didn't expect to see a second line because we'd *just* stopped using BC and the only reason I was taking a pregnancy test was to satisfy the curiosity of PackPrincess, her sister, and another teacher at summer camp. (I had done something pretty airheaded and it was blamed on "pregnancy brain.") I was in the bathroom at church and had my own FFFUuuuuuuUuuuUUUUuCCCKkK! moment.

Oh don't worry, I am happy. But you can be happy too if you want.

The timing is terrible right now as I am just starting the 5th year and grad school and she has job that keeps her on her feet all day.

There's no such thing as good timing when it comes to having a baby, but once you have them, you wouldn't send them back for all the money in the world.

I accidentally mentioned to my MIL we would start trying in the spring and she was like, "Why would you start so soon?" We've been together for SIX YEARS. How the hell is that "so soon"??????????????????????

My MIL reacted the same way. I think it's their last ditch attempt at holding on to THEIR baby.

Ok! Do we have enough Moms with babies on breast milk to start some kind of breastfeeding/pumping thread? My girl can't breastfeed, so I'm pumping and pumping and pumping. Since someone has already mentioned reflux, maybe we need a feeding thread. . .

THIS IS WHY WE NEED A LADIES SECTION!

I'm up breastfeeding right now! We could definitely start a breastfeeding thread b/c I've been randomly pumping and storing for when I go back to work in August.

We just need a general purpose baby thread......I need help figuring out why my 9 month old pukes every time I try to give her solid foods! She eats "baby food" just fine, but try to give her mashed up bananas...she gags and pukes..ugh.

I think that's normal as babies start figuring out solids. My mom didn't feed my sister or I baby food. Just soft foods in baby manageable pieces. I remember my sister gagging a lot at first but getting the hang of it.

I just recently learned there's an actual term for that sort of feeding. I just thought it was something hippie moms in the eighties did Apparently these days it's called baby-led weaning.

Banjo, my husband was also shocked. We weren't trying, but weren't preventing. The PLAN was to start the beginning of this year. So he was equally shocked and feeling ill prepared bc we weren't "ready." it's been chaotic (we've got our townhouse on the market and are under contract on a larger home), but we've been figuring it out as we go to make it work.
Sounds like baby-prepping to me! It'll work out

And I think a baby thread would be great. I'll let one of you start it since I have an inside baby still...
(come out baby!)

Maybe so, I was thinking it's a texture thing. For example she eats organic bananas out of a pouch, she will even eat frozen banana out of one of those mesh thingies like it's her job, but trying to give her just a tiny bit of mashed up banana she pukes it up. Same thing goes for those Mum Mum biscuits, dissolvable puffs, cheerios, avocado etc.

^Good luck! I remember watching my due date come and go without a sign (no mucous plug, no braxton hicks or nothing), then WHAM! My water breaks in the middle of the night.

I'm hoping for any day/hour/minute now.
I've had BH, real contractions, was 2.5 cm, 70%+, membranes stripped thurs, and lost my mucus plug yesterday with bloody show (I thought I might have already lost it, but that was DEF it yesterday ).
I was up for an hour last night with some pretty good contractions that were close to 5 min apart, but not getting stronger and I could talk through them. So I had a snack. Decided if they get stronger I wouldn't be able to sleep and "this is it," so i would try to get more sleep. Thennnnn they stopped

Maybe our babe will be punctual and come on the due date

I'm still thinking, knowing my luck, things wil get interesting right as True Blood starts tonight

OMG i forgot true blood starts ton. thanks LK

oh. and i was just popping in to see if your kiddo has arrived yet but i see s/he has not

i bet they decide to come during true blood since you love the show so much haha. that would be my luck, too!

well good luck i will keep checking. i am excited for you (hopefully that isn't creepy since we only kinda know each other haha). i am excited to see if it is a gal or guy. i was at work trying to decide what my guess is. we've been having a LOT of people buying girl baby gifts recently (like a lot a lot a lot) for baby showers. but around march and april it was ALLLLLL boy baby gifts. it is weird. it goes in cycles.

around what month do people have baby showers? is it in the 8th month? i feel like the ones i have been to have been a month or so before the babies were due. if that is the case i am guessing girl for you due to the abundance of girl presents i have wrapped during the past 2 months hahaha. i love how that is my indicator.

i know the high/low carrying thing, but i have seen that be inaccurate more than accurate. there is also some dangling a coin on a string above the belly trick and seeing which way it spins?! i can't remember how it goes

ok that is all haha. nothing else to contribute but good luck and go babies!!!!

I've heard if you break out a lot during your pregnancy that it'll be a girl. I've also heard if the baby refuses to leave the womb on time it's probably a girl

Is Ice cream okay to eat when pregnant?

Google says that as long as it is deep frozen from a tub then it is fine, but i just wanted to ask the experts.

The only type of ice cream that would be problematic is any that contained raw eggs or were unpasteurized. That means only like homemade cookie dough or homemade straight from a cows teat ice cream.

Anything you buy in the grocery store should be fine, including cookie dough ice cream.

heard a [new to me] old wives tale yesterday.

If you ask a pregnant woman to show her your hands, and she presents them to you palms down it's a girl. If she presents them to you palms up it's a boy.

HOWEVER, when i started googling this OWT I kept finding it the other way around.

Besides them being OWT, that's the thing about em...people remember them differently and they get all messed up so I don't know which one is right. Like carrying high versus low, or all over versus out in front, blah blah blah.

Ughhh....soooo tired right now. Baby only seems to be comfortable enough to sleep on somebody's chest. Hubby has gone to work so I guess I will be sleep deprived today (after last night's scream fest).

BTW reflux is something awful in babies. Thank God for awesome Pediatricians who are willing to give meds to help. Zantac has failed us miserably so it is time to switch to Prilosec.
