ITT list the location, sandwich, and ordering instructions for a damn good sandwich.

Village Deli - Village Hero all the way, add bacon, add cheddar. Probably the best sub ever.

go to the food lion deli and ask for them to slice you some german baloney

bring it home, fry it in a pan with just a little bit of oil to your desired level of burnt. fry an egg. put the baloney, egg, and some cheese in whatever kind of bun you like with a little mayo.

it's damn good.

[Edited on February 19, 2011 at 8:42 AM. Reason : or use that baloney to do a BLT where the B is baloney]

when I would get drunk in NYC I used to cap the night with a deli sandwich - I would ask the guy at the counter to make me whatever HE would eat and I've gotten some delicious sandwiches

here is one of them:

Hero roll
hot roast beef
grilled onions
bacon
provolone
avocado
brown mustard
lettuce
tomato

The BLT with avocado, onion strings, and just a touch of spicy mayo.

Current favorite to make at home:
A toasted whole wheat english muffin
small smear of mayo
sliced avocado
cilantro
pico de gallo
(can of course combine the last three into guac spread or leave chunky and 'deconstructed')
smoked turkey
spinach
pea shoots
salt, pepper

village deli was really good two renovations ago

and passable one renovation ago

the turkey sandwich you order now is a third of the size and a quarter of the quality of what once was

agreed. village deli is disgusting now. i'd rather eat cafe carolina and that is saying something.

anyways

BOONDINIS! and neomonde (pita) and jersey mikes are pretty much the only places i get "sandwiches" out to eat anymore (well besides like the remedy and the times but i'm not counting those).

Toasted Wheat Bread
Hand-carved roasted turkey (from a turkey that has just been roasted, no deli sliced shit here)
Avocado
Arugula
Bacon
Mayo

So damn good. Based on a sandwich I got at Southern Rail in Carrboro.

Remedy, FTW -- spicy turkey, just as it is on the menu.

the vegan sloppy joe used to be my go to, but it's not really a "sandwich", nor is it on the menu any longer.

The Village Deli on Aviation Parkway has a Fried Green Tomato BLT that is perfect. Their other sandwiches are pretty blah.

Jersey Mike's!

Regular 7 on wheat (turkey and provolone)
Mike's way (lettuce, tomato, onions, oil, vinegar, oregano, salt/pepper)
Add mayo, spicy mustard and pickles

I don't believe I've ever had anything else there. Although, my girlfriend's parents and sister rave about their cheesesteak sandwiches too.

I went there today, and didn't see the Trippin Chicken on the menu. I tried the Chicken Pesto. It was alright, but nothing earth-shattering.

Trippin' Chicken won a make-your-own sandwich contest they had last year so maybe it's listed somewhere special? I have never been there but keep meaning to go.

You just moved up a couple notches in my book. Mainly for the way you ordered. But that sandwich does sound delicious.
