Page 2 Percs every 4 hours for YOU!!!

^ me either on the Percs. you should talk to your doc. I'm sure they can give you something that may take the edge off the nausea. Phenergan or Zophran?

I got some over the counter meds for my nausea which helps. Hopefully I won't need anything else. The hospital lost my ball that goes with my sling I have taken off my sling about 5 times so far. I was told to move my wrist and move my arm to my elbow.

I am pretty close I guess. Still can't shave my armpit very well tho :beatup. I only have 2 more pt visits and then it's all up to me. Still gives me sharp pains, but it is improving.

^^Well, don't underestimate the value of the home exercises. Those are going to be important for strength and flex too. Good luck, I'm sure you've still got a lot of improvement to make.

Pretty sure I just partially dislocated my shoulder again, went right back into place. Hurts pretty bad now. Really don't want to go to Student Health to deal with them again. Last time I went they suggested I just go to the VA and get help there and told me to get motrin.

I would say yes. Can you find a better/different surgeon though?

The injured shoulder was never right after I dislocated it 10 years ago and then over Xmas I really dislocated the shit out of it. Ended up with a bankart lesion and minor tissue damage.

Surgery was done on 1/10/14. Still have limited range of motion and started PT last week.

My bicep still hurts, but everything seems normal. Good luck to everyone else in the same boat!

I had 3 anchors put in to tighten my labrum and give it extra support.

Yeah, that's how mine was repaired the first time around. This time, I'm going to get that (anchors in the labrum) along with another procedure. He's going to cut where bicep tendon attaches to my shoulder, drill a hole into my bone, and anchor the attachment point of the bicep there. This will hopefully not strain the labrum as much

Yeah, I watched a video demo of that operation and it looks pretty intense. Is that going to had a lot more time to your recovery? Also, do you need a shoulder cooler thingy?

I think I might get one from the Doc, I didn't use one last time. As far as recovery, I think it'll be about the same as a normal slap tear repair.

Well that's good the recovery won't be worse. I used my cooler a lot and it helped with the pain since the narcotics made me sick. The only part I didn't like was it being difficult to put on myself and having to trust someone else to do it without hurting me. At least you'll have Caroline to take care of you.

I don't remember any tingly sensations after the first day. Are you sure it's not just your stitches being itchy?

Didn't have any stitches and the incision is completely healed. It's more like a numb dull pain radiating from the front of my shoulder to the middle of bicep. Definitely notice it more when I'm using it and after PT. Did it feel completely normal like before the injury that quick?

What the heck is up with cutting the bicep tendon??? None of that shit had to be snipped for my SLAP surgery.

Those scope shots look seriously rough, way worse than mine did. Best of luck with your (2nd) recovery!

Ooh, that's a good one.

So back on Feb. 16th I received a grade 3 shoulder separation on the same shoulder I had extensive surgery on 5 or 6 years ago. Fortunately all of my previous injuries were to the ball and socket part of the shoulder and this one was just the AC joint. I'm pretty much back to normal now, have another appt. with my ortho in two weeks, hopefully I've got a clean bill of health.

For a while there I was worried I was going to be posting about my own second shoulder surgery. Instead it just looks like I'm going to have a wonky looking bump on my shoulder forever and ever. I really hope I don't have some unhealed stuff in there that will require surgery.

No sling today. Arm feels tight from the bicep to the shoulder. Also, it tires out very easily.

Sorry, been meaning to answer that. Basically since it was the second time the same injury needed repair, he wanted to go in and snip the tendon. This pretty eliminates all the extra stress (and pain) on the labrum. It also shortens recovery time. First time it was 6 weeks in the sling and 6 months rehab, now it's going to be 4 weeks and 4 months
