i want a s13 with an ls1 really bad

also went to the drag strip yesterday and my ear holes are still tickling. We arrived and I watched one run..then the next one went very badly. A pro-stock car went into the barrier at 185mph and destroyed the barrier, tumbled all the way down past the end of the braking area and finally landed in a dirt field. Fortunately he was ok.. the car was completely gone.

I'm starting to really like the look of the new Jaguar F-type. I think it would be gorgeous in red, black, or british racing green.

It's also a really great looking car. First 2 seater Jag in like 40 years, impressive performance, probably serious concerns with reliability down the road... what's not to like?

Also thinking about a Subaru wagon. Might sell the Infiniti and buy a wagon and a convertible of some kind. Should probably get a garage first...

After watching the Tesla shareholders meeting I'm really intrigued by not just the Tesla Model S (which is really out of my budget) but the 3rd gen thats supposed to be a little smaller and like half the price.

Wish I had gotten some stock too a couple months ago.

The whole reasons we have a vids thread is I used to piss bbr off with turbo mustang threads.

I actually helped build one in college with an 88mm turbo.

We eventually broke the block... So we built a 408 stroker...

There was one at Cars & Coffee two Saturdays ago in Cary, with dealer tags. Looked really nice. However I have a hard time calling it a sports car. It's about 300-400 lbs too heavy and is only available with an automatic transmission (torque converter, nothing fancy like a dual clutch unit).

-tree huggers don't buy WRXs. In fact not a lot of people do; they only sell a few thousand a year in the US
-tree huggers love the new Impreza & Outback, 2 vehicles that have far nicer interiors than the WRX

It's that simple.

Ford Flex Ecoboost, because it's probably what will replace the Crown Vic. I think I'm stuck with the Vic until either a)it dies or b)we're expecting a kid. Considering it doesn't even have 100K miles on it b) will almost certainly happen before a). So we'll need something that can haul around all the flotsam and jetsam that come with children. Don't want a minivan or an SUV, the only good sized wagon left is the E-class with is $texas, so what remains is crossovers. The Flex is about the only one that I like, and the ability to get one with 355 HP kind of seals it.

This is, of course, a couple years away.

If it were newer maybe, but it's a '97 and while I trust it just fine for getting me around it wouldn't make the reliability grade with a kid in the car.

Plus the wife despises it.

sucks that so many folks have been convinced that a 15 year old car can't be reliable

^Yeah I don't understand that mindset. If anything I think older cars from the 90s are made with higher quality, superior, more durable parts. Though that could vary from make to make

what happens these days is people let stuff pile up so their 5k car needs wheel bearings, ball joints, tie-rod ends, timing belt, new rotors, and a clutch... so they have 5k worth of labor that needs to be done on a 5k car...

that's why people don't like 15 yr old cars.

^^ exactly... its not that people don't like 15 year old cars... it's that people don't like 15 year old car owners...

i mean the rare instance of a 1998 supra turbo would probably be mint cause they're still worth $texas but cars that no one cares about just crumble to shit... and if they are for sale its probably because someone saw a labor bill that totaled it.

If you knew the car I'm talking about you'd understand. My parents owned it from 2002 until last year. They are the type to put off maintenance at times, or their priorities can be screwy. For example, before giving the car to me, they fixed the A/C which had stopped working. That's nice and all, but they neglected to replace the worn-the-fuck-out rear shocks, nor the ball joints (both of which I've been stuck with). Plus the power steering whines like a mofo (though, it being a 90's Ford, that may be the normal state of affairs).

A 15 year old car that I personally have owned for the majority of its life would be a different story.
