The decade has passed and a lot of students at NCSU are considered veterans now having served or are currently serving. They have questions... there must be a forum.

or not. It was just an idea. Would have loved to get to know veterans, or cadets or whatever . There isn't an ROTC for fisherman but I'm sure there's a club for that too.

i mean, i don't give a fuck what forums they create. doesn't make a difference to me.

but i do think a single thread would suffice for the veterans on here. if you've got a question or something that couldn't be handled by that thread, then another website would probably be better for you anyway. same thing for fishing shit. i'll post crap in the thread, but if i really want some fishing reports or i have a tough question, i'll go to a fishing forum on another site.

I think the idea is to draw people to the site. It doesn't make sense for Wal-mart to refer you to a specialty store if they want to conduct good business. Instead, they'll tell you they've got what you're looking for and they've got it easier and cheaper than the next.

Ease of use folks... that's what did it for myspace, and that's what did it for Facebook after.

I think it could do well. Lots of students lurking may be ROTC or anticipating joining the service. It could be great to have a place where a student could come and see how, say, one prominent TWWer joined the Marines and now flies jets. I don't think this type of community exists strictly for college students who are looking at the military plus early-career soldiers. Most vet forums I've come across are 40 year old vets without college degrees.

I don't think a single thread could really handle the vast diversity of questions. On one hand you have Tarun asking about joining the Coast Guard, Fareako just getting out of TBS, and vets looking for advice on PTSD.

I vote for the veteran's forum to be named Semper Fudge

Seems to work just fine for the backpacking/camping thread, wedding thread, etc.

do you think if your dad would've had a veteran's forum, he'd have punched a gay poster

and would you still have been as proud of him

I'd be curious to know the exact number of active posters who are ROTC, Active Duty, or Vets.

Lol...
1) Sit on your ass and never see combat or any danger worse than accidentally shooting yourself
2) Call yourself a veteran.

I have zero issues with someone doing that, I'm a vet, I've deployed and was in hostile situations. If someone served, they served, I don't give a damn if they say behind a desk their entire career.

^^ Man, you're a disrespectful little fuck. Who cares if they were on a battle field, in a control and command center, or sat behind a desk making sure others' got their paycheck?

One thing is clear.... they've done more than your scrawny, trolling ass.

Issues like post-DADT, weapons preferences, first-aid care in combat, life after the military, state tax laws, veteran's disability, toxic leaders, UCMJ, behaviors in the workspace, thoughts on drill and ceremony and how it's no longer being used, the ACU pattern, etc...

I could go on and on, and I'm only just talking Army. I'm sure there's representation from the other 3 services as well.

You don't have a military audience because you don't have the forum for it. A thread would suffice to maintain what you have now. A forum is room for expansion for more participation from the audience.

You guys are all about now... I'm talking about the future.

do what now

I'm saying those are more or less simplistic topics compared with the diverse issues that come up in military discussions

Unless you're trying to make some kind of joke about military = a lot of backpacking and weddings, which, although true sometimes, deserves quite a strong

I find 99% of everything Apocalypse does a poor cry for attention. This is no different.

I've seen tons of forums that are just a wasteland of dead message boards that get posted in once every few days. Even then, its like a group of 10 or fewer people actually participating. The last thing TWW needs is to split our user-base into further segmented boards.

If you could spin this into some form of feature to lure in new posters, sure, that's splendid. But I don't see that turning into this. Lets call this what it is: another board for Apoc to try to create as many pointless threads in as possible (much easier to do this when there are more boards).

You say:

"A thread would suffice to maintain what you have now. A forum is room for expansion for more participation from the audience.""

I say:
Quote :
"Less is more."
