AMEX Blue Preferred for 6% back on groceries and 3% back on gas and dept stores (more than worth the $75 annual fee)
Discover it and Chase Freedom for rotating 5% back categories
Barclaycard for 2% utilities and 2% groceries over the $6000 AMEX annual limit
USAA rewards for the odd online purchase that has better rewards through their MemberShop
Citi Double Cash for 2% back on everything else (once the purchase is paid off)

Any other cash back cards that I'm missing?

I've probably already asked this, but what card/cards are currently offering the best spend bonuses for a flight to Europe?

^^ I've picked up the AA Plat and the Barclays US Air cards in the last month with the plan to use those combined miles next fall/winter for a European trip.

50k for $3k - AA
40k after first purchase for US Air

^ Which Chase card? Think I already have the Sapphire. Might even have Ink Plus Business

Looks like the Barclays 40k US Air card will cover 2/3 of there and back (60k miles total RDU-ROME, spring)
I'll have to see which Citi AA card I already have...
Shit Delta charges 100k-120k miles one way for that route!
I've got like 150k Southwest miles...can those be leveraged? Figuring not.

Theoretically so you aren't showing all those inquiries on your report for each application. I think it's all pretty instant now though. I just apply for cards whenever I think it's a good deal instead of using the "app-o-rama" model.

My only "rules" are I try to keep it under 6 inquiries in a year (I have free reign to apply for cards for my wife so I'm really going after 10-12 cards per year) and I don't like going to the same issuer back-to-back. I try to space it out as much as possible. I think 2015 will be the year I start dipping my toes in the business card world.

Dude that 120 days isnt from that card. I said I paid it in FULL every month since I got it a year ago.

I have been disputing a charge with an apartment complex since 2008. It literally has 3,202 dollars in a "collection agency" on my report. It says it is set to fall of April 2015 so I have been told to not even do anything at this point.

I have 1 inquiry that I have been fighting forever but it falls off January anyways.

My Score here is 667, transunion it shows 748, etc.

I have an 11k 11% loan on a car
I have 60K in student loans
I have this credit card with a 5 dollar balance
Once those 2 things I mentioned fall off wouldn't you say I should try to finally re-finance or are they going to now deny due to balance being what it is overall?

I mean whatever you need to do, you shouldn't be looking in a credit card offers thread for the answer. Applying for more credit cards will do nothing to help you right now.

Fair enough, 99% of this thread is people looking for sign up bonuses and rewards cards though.

I think paying off that debt, not applying for credit cards and not missing payments for a while would be your best strategies.

I'd leave it. Statute of limitations should be up already and it'll be falling off your report soon. Paying it off today wouldn't necessarily help your score unless you negotiate a pay for delete in which they'd remove it from your report and even that may be minimal since it's so old already. If you have a family member with good history, you can have them add you as an authorized user on a card. They don't have to give you a physical card but it'd help your payment history, utilization rate, etc.

Yeah, we're talking about 'strategies' for maximizing credit card bonuses, but yeah once you past April 2015 you should be in much better shape.

I have two options honestly. I have a friend who will add me as an authorized user on a 12k card and my girlfriend would do the same for me on a 7k card. Wouldn't them doing this still block me as my scores range from 660-750?

As I said I have a car payment I pay 486.10 a month and have paid 36 times on time and have 24 remaining. I am hoping by the final 12 ( 2016 ) I can get re-financed?

I hve this secured credit card which holds 17 percent and I always pay in full. Obviously keep that open it has only been 12 months.

So my other credit xard offer would be to do a secured at my bank for a higher amount when i get cash or get on theirs? Please help me "strategize"

How so? I mean my score is where its at because of that collection with that apartment complex that goes off April 2015... And that one inquiry I guess doesn't matter but I want 0.

I guess my next problem in life is 11k car loan and

60k student loans....

Does it say why you were denied after applying? 50% of you score is payment history and length of your credit history and that can only be improved with time if you're doing it on your own. Assuming the other person has a long credit history and doesn't run a high balance, your score should improve as an authorized user as you would gain the payment history. Also unless you're just looking for a cheaper payment, refinancing with a year to go wouldn't save you that much in interest. Maybe a couple hundred if you're lucky and get the best rates.

The credit card company should start reporting that account to the credit bureaus. Assuming she's had the card for a while and it has a good payment history with low utilization, it should improve your score. Give it a month or so for it to show up. Don't expect an 800+ credit score immediately but you gotta start somewhere.

These types of credit card topics aren't for anyone in these types of situations. It's sort of implied, but credit card strategies (emphasis on sign up bonuses) all imply that balances are paid in full every month.

Sign up for a card and like ^ says, pay it off every month. Set up auto-pay on the card so it gets done for sure.

Just called IHG to try to get my annual fee waived. She said "I tried to put it in to refund it and the system wouldn't let me; it's just a standard fee with this card."

Then I told her I'd like to cancel the card because I couldn't afford the fee and she seemed non-plussed by that and asked if I'd like to cancel it now (I didn't, because I want to make sure I use my free hotel night beforehand, assuming I'd lose it and my 90k IHG points if I did)

Also called Chase for the Sapphire Preferred fee ($95) to be waived. She said no, but she could "downgrade" me to one of their free cards within 180 days of the fee being applied to get a refund. I would lose the 3% foreign transaction fee thing, but I don't have any upcoming international travel planned so I'm not too worried about that. I also just got the Chase Ink Business Plus which I'm assuming has similar rewards as the SP, so I can use that for the next 10 months.

Thoughts?

I assume you called Chase, not IHG. You won't lose your pts if you cancel a credit card after the pts have hit the associated non credit card account.

I just cancelled my Sapphire when the fee was due and got approved for my second one a few days ago.
Not sure why you need it in addition to the chase ink biz plus unless you really want the whopping 2x? on restaurants or whatever it is.

Yes sorry I meant I called the IHG line for Chase. The points are IGH points not UR or something else I could transfer laterally. And I was almost sure I'd heard that if you cancel a card before redeeming pts/free nights/other incentives and hadn't transferred them, you'd lose access to them.

So I called the Sapphire Preferred number again (about something unrelated) and talked to a supervisor, she told me that the fee actually hadn't hit yet (I guess I was looking at the Ink one) and that I could call after it did and they would "review" it but she hinted that it was likely I could get it waived.

I suppose I have no real need for the card, but I was thinking more along the lines of length of credit history. Although if it's within the same institution it's all the same, right (ie Amex)?

Yeah, most places have you call them after the fee has hit to have it waived or to give you pts.

Pretty sure score is calculated based on accounts, not institutions.
I mean, I'd keep it if you've had it a very long time or have few other credit cards.
