Simply beautiful. Now time to go find a cheap C6.

The body color strip on the roof is a mistake. I also don't like the tail lights or the fangs coming off them.

Is the bumper still made of loose flimsy plastic, and the body with various size gaps everywhere between panels?

And that’s just the beginning. There are other versions of the ‘Vette quietly under development, likely to include the step-up Z06 and the next-generation ZR1, which likely will reach well beyond 600 horsepower.

I do like the way the cockpit is designed around the driver

I won't like how it's probably made of cheaper plastic than toys I had in the early 80s.

As if I'd be buying one anyway

Looks cool as a first impression...hopefully the looks don't wear thin, being too boy-racerish or Batmobilish.

I don't like the departure from round taillights, and for that matter, the whole rear of the car looks too much like the Camaro.

I'm disappointed that they didn't make it smaller and lighter, but at least it's not bigger and fatter.

The interior looks light years ahead of previous Corvettes, like maybe for the first time in many years like it wouldn't be embarrassing for a Kia. Hell, even the seats look like they might be decent!

Fit and finish and NVH remain to be seen. If they're anything better than appalling, they will exceed expectations.

I'm sure that even the base car will be flat-out stupidly fast in any performance metric. The Z-cars will probably nearly depart from Newtonian physics and approach the Einsteinian realm.

Despite the gripes, overall I give it a solid thumbs-up so far, just based on looks and paper specs. I'm disappointed that I'll never be able to own one, due to the motherfucking EDR.

I doubt that this bodystyle with all of its black plastic vents, speed creases and glass cockpit will stand the test of time. The stingray concept was much more interesting.

the car has a lot of CF panels instead of all fiber glass and also all the vents are functional. i think i can make the 540i last another year until my year review and bonus. this car looks to fit every requirement i've had in looking for a new car.

Exterior is great.

Interior looks like a redneck's take on an A5.

Still goes like stink.

So, not much has changed regarding how I feel about it.

j/k, where you been bro? The front end of this thing reminds me of the new Viper; the rear appears to be what a 'tuner' shop would turn out for a Camaro's body kit. I'll let the new look simmer.

Also, 7 speed manual, come on? At least Vin Diesel can continue to upshift during his street racing.

I wish they'd post more pictures of an all black interior rather than two-tone, but this certainly looks better to me than the black and red (which looks horrid IMHO):

I think the interior looks like a big step up, but I'm guessing the real test will be when people get their hands on test cars and actually feel the quality (or lack thereof) of the interior.

I've been around, working way too much...

I'm not falling for it again. C5 was finally supposed to be "world class", when that didn't work, so was the C6. I'm not falling for it again... Look at the details;

Look at the door panel, the chrome/aluminum panel meeting the dash when the door is closed... will not fit well. Also, the dash vent with (plastic) chrome will I'm sure feel chintzy.

Also, exterior looks OK but why didn't they just leave the roof painted;

^^Remember who you're talking to. There is no point in arguing.

Personally I like it, except the tails. I think going away from round lamps was a mistake, and the "fangs" are too much. As to whether it will stand up after a few years, we'll see--given the Corvette's rather long refresh cycle, this is a very valid concern.

I bet its lighter than any of it's competition.

As to the interior I think it looks good. But ultimately I think that's something you really couldn't pass judgement on till you sit in one. Either way the seats look like a huge upgrade.

It looks like a stretched camaro with a corvette front clip.

Assuming the price point is just under 50k for the base this car will be a good buy. My only issue with this design is GM's overuse of the camaro on every new car. Even the new impala features camaro styling.

Ok the more I look at the new GM cars the less I like this car. There is nothing special about a camaro, corvette etc if every car in the lineup essentially looks the same.

Is that a 1 on the bottom right corner (4 o'clock position) on the tach telling you what gear you are in?

^Don't you get it? They are trying to build an identity, the same way all bmw models look alike, the way all porsche models have the key signature body styling, etc.

It's all about branding. I'm going to miss the 4 circle tail lights on the corvette; that's just a signature 'vette thing. However, I really like this rear end. It's the rest of the car that is aesthetically Meh to me. The steering wheel does look catastrophic... But the performance looks promising. 450hp stock!? maybe 550hp for a z06? That's one helluva fast car for sure!

I wanna hear a c7 on the dyno and compare it to the sleep inducing viper.

yea, ill enlighten you.

it is primitive, automotively uncultured and archaic. just like the god damn pushrod that it still uses. i dont care about vette heritage, purpose, performance, reliability and other things you might start telling me about. i dont care how fast it is and how it will probably be 10 sec faster than the new m3 on all the circuits. Just bothers me to own a $60k sports car in 2014 that has primitive mechanical design. In usual vette fashion there is excess body contours where it is not needed. That bothers me at fundemental level. I am used seeing nicely trimmed overhangs that speak of sophistication.

When they start having ITBs, complex IRS, alcantara headliners, and trimmed body dimensions I will consider one. Until then I will treat it as a child that it is. A child for uncultured, uneducated, untraveled, unsophisticated overly-simple peasants who don’t know any better and haven’t tried any better. There! I said it! No filter!

^^it sounds like you want a car as a status symbol so you can herald it as such rather evaluate the car on tangible benefit. the pushrod design is simpler, lighter, and much cheaper to manufacture. as a result, you can get world class performance much cheaper, due to a much lower r&d budget. show me a single v8 that gets gas mileage even close to a corvette while making similar power. there's a lot to be said for simple. simple saves budgets and races. styling elements are completely subjective, but to suggest any part of the running gear is primitive suggests someone wanting new just to say it's new or expensive rather than someone that understands or appreciates any of the dynamics associated there with.

look at the abomination bmw calls the new m5. a twin turbo dohc v8 that makes less power and gets worse gas mileage, while costing a metric fuckton more in r&d, production, and maintenance. you're like the definition of poser, dude.

Did you read a single word what I said? Let me repeat - I don’t care how much faster, cheaper, and simpler it is. In fact, I hate the simplicity part of it. I don’t care about its great mpg. Nobody is buying it for mpg anyway. Are you kidding me - If BMW is a status symbol what do you call a vette then? Like ANY other non-appliance car IT IS a status symbol. So is Lexus 460 hybrid for new money FOBs. Don’t tell me you own a 540i because Volvo 850, forester or crown vic couldn’t do its job. Why do you need a 540i? I can tell you a page long story why I drive a bimmer from a technical standpoint and ONE of MANY reasons is, yes, because I ALSO like its image. Have liked it since I was 10 year old child with E30 M3 on my wall! What’s wrong with that?
Poser is somebody who buys a name brand without understanding, knowing or appreciating anything about it.

..concur on new M5. i have been a critic of almost all new BMWs and i have no problems spitting on my own brand if they are not delivering, which they haven't since e60 on 5-series side.

I am honestly dying to know why you wanted a bmw. I drive a 540i because I wanted quiet, comfort, power, and good driving dynamics on a budget. my car is 15 years old. if it said chevy on the outside, i'd still drive and love it. what I cannot comprehend is why you would denounce the car for not providing "status" where it in place provides performance, utility, and practicality.

this is some of the most female logic i've ever heard in my life. do you work in sales?

crown vic is also quiet, powerful and way better budget than 540i from tires, insurance and especially maintenance. what's wrong with leaf springs on crown vic?

im not denouncing the car based on status, but based on primitive design, starting from engine that was used in 1955 truck to leaf springs that are almost 100 years old in design.
