Fair, but from the limited things we've seen...Cat actually is a ball handler. Unlike Purvis, and really Brown as well.

okay, thanks for the italics. I was obviously responding to the comments about speed meaning success in transition but whatever.

I don't think Barber "should" be better than Brown in transition just because he's faster but I think we can move on now.

you used purvis as an example of when speed doesn't always help in transition, and i was saying that cat is known his ball control and being a true point guard, much moreso than purvis was in high school. i'm not say that cat will be better in transition than brown, but i think it's safe to say that comparing him to purvis probably isn't a great comparison.

The comparison was Brown and Barber. The statement was that Barber should be better than Brown in transition because he was fast. All I said was that being faster doesn't equal being better. Sorry for the confusion.

Would you say that Barber is faster AND has better handles than Brown?

I'd say he's probably faster than Brown. But I'm not sure how well he'll handle the ball in college. If I had to guess, I'd bet he'll struggle with turnovers for a while.

I'd say he's faster and has better handles than brown, the question mark is decision making

I think what isn't being mentioned so far is passing ability, especially in transition. Kendall Marshall was phenonemal - no one in the country didn't want a passer like that on their team. He wasn't fast, but he didn't need to be.

Brown became a great passer too. I expect Tyler to be terrific. Barber seems to have the wheels to beat the defense down the court and finish himself.

dave telep was saying he needs to slow down sometimes. going fast isn't always the best thing.

also tyler is already a terrific passer and doesn't turn the ball over. that's exactly what you want in a primary ball handler.

they could play very well together.

I still think Barber is a pass first point guard. He was making small passes to players in transition under the basket.

^going fast with terrible decision making = rodney purvis....sorry, had to.

Cat looked good though...excited to see what he can do at the next level. Interested in how he and Lewis are gonna be used together.

Watching Louisville, I'm hoping Lewis and Cat can play along the lines of Siva and Smith. Siva is an elite passer and the team leader ... Smith is the flashy playmaker with incredible speed. Both are great ball-handlers and creators with high basketball IQs.

I know one thing -- having two guys who can handle the ball and create offense is going to be nice. I would have killed for that during the Lowe years.

Lewis has absolutely zero chance of becoming an elite player like those two. If he's a three year starter it will mean things are not going well here. I love him as a career back up.

^^Siva is a much better defender, but I think Lewis can become a better offensive player. Siva turns the ball over a ton. Lewis doesn't. Siva also struggles to shoot the ball sometimes. Lewis, while not a great shooter, is definitely a threat.

They're not very similar players aside from the fact they're small, good ball handlers, and have good leadership qualities.

My point was that Siva and Smith are two small guards who complement each other. I'm hoping Lewis and Barber can be the same.

X-ray isn't going to show anything regarding soft tissue. Needs an MRI. If he broke a bone then he needs to not be putting any weight on it. If he did then he'll be out 8 weeks. Maybe sooner since he is a young and healthy athlete, and depending on the bone and how he broke it. 4-6 weeks for ankle sprain, maybe longer depending on the grade. A torn tendon would all depend on if it's partial vs. full, and if in the case of partial if it needed surgery or not. Full tear would definitely be surgery. Big thing for him is rehab in terms of if he can return to form or not.

this will save tyler from from transferring. his confidence was broke. body language was terrible last game.

i know cat's coming back, but it's best tyler doesn't go out on a bad note. give him a chance to get his confidence back before ACC play, even if he's not a starter
