I'm amazed that GOP statement is real

Best part of Kami's response is the foot in mouth action right now considering the UNC rape accusations just thrown into the mix.

I'm appalled really but you can't make this shit up!

I know the state GOP doesn't get much love on this site (mostly deservedly), but North Carolina’s business tax climate has improved to 11th best in the nation, according to new rankings released this week by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.

http://taxfoundation.org/article/2017-state-business-tax-climate-index

Quote :
"The 2017 State Business Tax Climate Index ranks the state ahead of nearly all its southeastern neighbors and comes just two years after North Carolina achieved the most dramatic improvement in the Index’s history – catapulting from 44th to 15th in a single year."

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Now, no one can ever say TWW isnt fair and balanced.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) the tax foundation has been pretty closely associated with ALEC for the past decade or so. And ALEC legislators wrote the new tax laws. So I'm not really surprised they would be cheerleading the reaulta

I think Ross looks pretty good, she just moves her mouth in a weird way when she talks (she looks like she is trying to perfectly articulate everything, but it ends up looking weird)

Emails show how Republicans lobbied to limit voting hours in North Carolina

I would think that evenings and weekends would be peak times for voting.

Because even if its equal opportunity, if there is disparate outcome that is bad for the DNC... must be racist!

You can't expect black people to get identification! #RacismOfLowExpectations

Or could it just be that nobody is actually enthusiastic about a corrupt establishment puppet, no matter how much race-baiting and pandering she does?

Trump effect?

court packing as about as anti-american as it gets.

Just saw a tweet today someone was noting how these events from early 20th century seem to be repeating, just as the generation that lived through that has just died off.

CBC (Wral) had a pretty good editorial today regarding the disparate impact the rural legislators have on state policy given the relative little impact they have on state GDP and valuation. They have basically completely consolidated power with little to no opposition possible to change it.

Someone can post a link..

[Edited on November 23, 2016 at 9:57 AM. Reason : basically only courts can change it at this point]

http://www.wral.com/federal-court-orders-new-nc-legislative-elections-in-2017/16289906/

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina lawmakers must redraw their legislative districts by March 15 and hold new elections by the end of next year, a federal court ruled Tuesday.

That order follows up on a ruling from this summer that found lawmakers had unconstitutionally relied on race when they drew 28 state House and Senate districts.

Although lawmakers had told the court they should be given more time to redraw their districts and should not have to hold elections until 2018, the three-judge panel disagreed.

"This gives the State a total of seven months from the time the districts were held to be unconstitutional, which is longer than it took the 2011 legislature to redistrict the entire state," read the order, which was drafted by a three-judge federal district court panel.

voter fraud never ever happens

Quote :
"Voting machines in more than one-third of all Detroit precincts registered more votes than they should have during last month’s presidential election, according to Wayne County records prepared at the request of The Detroit News.

The problems were the worst in Detroit, where discrepancies meant officials couldn’t recount votes in 392 precincts, or nearly 60 percent. And two-thirds of those precincts had too many votes."

^^^ If anything that's election fraud, not voter fraud. Requiring ID wouldn't have done anything.

Jeff Jackson Facebook reporting a "flurry" of legislation being filed right up on the deadline. Some over 40 pages. His screenshot of the NCGA interface just shows a few adjournment bills (I think just parliamentary bills?) and the NCGOP patented Regulatory Reform Act of [insert every long session year the GOP has been in control].

So I guess we'll see if they let people read these before voting or not.

So the way it's structure the educated folks in the urban areas basically get shit on by the yokels correct? Vastly unfair influence exerted by the more rural counties in this state?

^we'll see what happens after they come up with the non-racist gerrymanders. It should help urban areas I imagine.

This sucks, and like I said earlier I didn't think they had the bawls, but I was wrong. That being said......It could have been worse?????(based on some of the court packing rumors we heard, etc). They are still stretching for mustache twirling Villian status as hard as they can.

Why not do what they are doing? They could do anything and not lose power.

Cooper is going to get literally nothing he wants to done. Part of me wishes McCrory won and made life for the rural idiots even shittier so maybe they'd come to their senses. But Jesus of course so they won't.

this is going to blow up in their faces by either the courts striking it down or enough of them being voted out during next year's election cycle

I'm hoping that there are enough decent people out there who are appalled by this and will be inspired to vote
