Is that just something you "dreamed" about or is that real life TT?

the ratio on revott is a bitch to keep up. I will say that. The best thing i can recommend that got me going good was music. I would download a popular album and seed the fuck out of it. I'm seeding shit i downloaded last year still.

I feel like movies and TV/shows don't get give me the ratio I use to get back in return.

I have unlimited backdoor invites on RevTT I guess they're struggling for some loot right now and making a push/plea.

Way back in the day I would grab a popular torrent then stop it. Then grab all the rars from usenet and put them in the torrent directory and force a recheck. Boom 100% upload ratio.

Now I just throw money at them instead of worrying what usenet providers scrape for DMCA violations. Sometimes ratio boost, sometimes freeze and will probably do frozen download upload x 2 during this "crisis" as their wall of text implies.

LYLT people, your upload WILL count during this special.

We will activate Download Freeze on all torrents site wide. This means your download counter will not be updated for any of those torrents, your upload will still count. This gives everyone a good chance to get on torrents they may have been too afraid to touch and to build a good buffer at the same time too."

I've never not been able to just use google too find a good torrent, can typically get 8-10Mbps download speeds, and don't have to worry about seeding since i don't care about the servers.

Why something like Sickbeard or Couch Potato are so nice. All the downloads are automated so you grab them before there's ever a DMCA take down on a Usenet site. In the last year I think I've had maybe 1-2 TV Shows that I couldn't download via Usenet.

I had Sickbeard and sabNZB setup with MediaPortal about 3 years ago but it was such a pain in the ass to setup and I never really got it exactly the way I wanted it. Once I formatted I never went back and set it up. I just remember dropping UNS I think because it became nearly impossible to find releases as they were taken down so quickly after they'd pre.

I did at least get some automation setup last weekend with uTorrent/EventGhost/SCRU/TheRenamer that I have dump into my Playon directory so I can watch on PS4. It's still a bit quirky and I'm still trying to go through the python script I ganked to see why.

But yeah Sickbeard+CouchPotato were nice... although in my automation re-surge I downloaded Sonarr but haven't decided if I want to set it up.

^^^Good lookin' out. Time to boost dat ratio.

Was fun while it lasted. Still have 775GB of my 900GB HDD free so I'm sure I'll keep seeding everything. Got some extra free goodness from tonight's Walking Dead and Ray Donovan.

I gambled on a NBA2k16 and haven't checked that ratio but I prob wasted 8GB. I may just setup a usenet account again to seed from. I need another HDD.

i up Sonarr first try with no problems and have never used any of this before, it was easy

i use SABnzbd, Deluge, and Sonarr followed this guide and had no issues:
http://www.cuttingcords.com/home/ultimate-server/newsgroups-and-sabnzbd

The only thing I couldn't get to work was headphones. Does anyone use headphones or have a recommendation for an alternative?

After TVTorrents went down I use hdts.ru. It's awesome. Mainly for when I can't find something on Newsgroups though. Rarely if ever will a tv show fail to download with Sickbeard as long as you have 2-3 indexers listed.

i usually d/l from 1337x and AT&T U-verse is my ISP. No VPN or IP blocking. never had a problem.

I usually d/l and stop once completed. I forgot about this one and let it seed for most of the weekend. I think that's what got me.

does your torrent client not have settings to prevent seeding?

Most private trackers require you to maintain a dl/ul ratio so you usually have to seed. They're usually also safer though. Running a program like peerguardian is always a safe thing to do though. I only torrent when I can't find something on usenet though.

it probably does. I've never really paid attention to it. I have a couple what.cd items that are constantly seeding so i haven't changed the preferences. movies and tv downloads i've just always stopped right after completion.

I just got a new computer with windows 10 which I am new to. I am not able to get any torrents to download using bittorent. With my old operating system I would find a torrent online, and when I clicked download, Bitlord would recognize the file type, open, and start downloading. Now when i click download it just downloads into a folder on the computer, and it's saved on my computer as an ACE file which Bittorent isn't even recognizing. Any idea what I need to do?

IDK how outdated this is but i'll just copy/paste from an email from a while ago. Someone can chime in on the provider to use. Those search tools are probably dead now.

Providers
http://www.usenetserver.com/?refer=237028 [I used to use this one and that's my referral tag on the end.]
http://astraweb.com/ [another cheap alternative but ranked lower than UNS]
http://giganews.com [was considered to be #1 in the past, but it's nearly twice the cost of other providers these days - not really worth it anymore]

Most all of these have some sort of free trial, be it a certain amount to download or 3 days etc. You can surf each of them for a week or two before committing, but I would just try UNS for 3 days and keep that one if it works. No sense in risking a CC charge because you forgot to cancel!

Let me know if those articles don't cover everything in depth and I'll try to answer any questions. I have an invite to a private torrent tracker as well, but every time that I have given them out (they're pretty limited I've only had 3 in 2 years) the person doesn't keep up their ratio and gets kicked off the site wasting it. But that's a whole other ballgame."

What's the latest and greatest for Windows? Looks like Peer Block hasn't been updated in a couple years.

I still use PeerBlock. Yeah it doesn't look like it's been released in years but my lists update quite often. I think different programs can use the same updated lists though. May be a better/newer program out there though haven't looked recently.

dl'd the sample.mkv videos of a couple star wars cams, just the samples, to try and boost ratio. i think they might be too small to make much of a difference in ratio though.

i heard somewhere that most torrent software bypassed vpn and went straight through your original ip.

this is why i stopped torrenting. Sure nothing has happened but its not that unforseeable that they will come after people on a large scale. not worth the risk unless i can guarantee anonymity. especially with content from some of these massive companies making movies.

^I do not I thought there was still a free list? However I stopped using PeerBlock n favor of a VPN that comes with my Giganews subscription (VyprVPN).

^^I use VyprVPN w/ uTorrent and I can tell you it's not bypassing the VPN. Everything running in the VM that uTorrent is running on appears to be going through the VPN.

TPB has been shitty for me since the takedown last year. I had been using it for years but switched to KAT after that. I occasionally did comparisons and was not impressed by TPB. Guess that is what I'm stuck with though now.
