ITT I'll post all my random G8 related stuff. With that said this weekend I got rid of some chrome.

It's not perfect work (had some issues with no opening the door before it dried too much) so I'll be peeling and doing it again this week. Also I added some new, custom glass HID fog lights (3000k).



If anyone knows of a shop that I can trust to remove the trim and paint it matte black post them.

I have all my exhaust stuff together except for my cats. I ordered 2 thunderbolt metallic spun cats. I received one 3" thunderbolt and one 2.5" flowmaster cat.

Not a big problem since I don't have time to do the headers this week anyway.

fwiw, I'm not a thunderbolt fan (have installed 2-3 of them, had to replace one with a magnaflow because the downstream o2 sensor wasn't satisfied)

I'm already running super 40's. When I get my cam install I'm gonna have the tuner turn the rear 02's off, so I'll only have to deal with the code until June. I want to change mufflers but I'mma wait until I see how it sounds with the cam first.

I just realized I didn't say what my plan is. Currently I have 3 inch exhaust, X pipe and flowmaster super 40's. They droned like a bitch so I put a 2.5" inlet exhaust tip into the flowmaster and welded it. (Cut down on about 80% of the drone, but I lost the ability to set off alarms etc) I'm replacing the tips with proper 3" tips and adding J pipes to fix drone. I have a set of coated Pacesetter 1 3/4 longtubes that are going to be put on, and then some cats will be added into the midpipe.

And the reason for changing the tips is I put on a new diffuser and they look small

I had a 99 Dakota with a single 3" exhaust, super-40 (or 44) and a 3" thunderbolt.

SHIT WAS HOT SON, HOT. I can only imagine what a cammed LSx sounds.

I had one on a Honda accord...don't ask.... but, suffice to say, it's going to make driving your car miserable. I have since learned that its mo betta to have a car that's noticeably faster, not noticeably louder.

Only thing to see here is the nice vararam intake. The vararam has the best performance of all the intakes for this car, but the most bland install.

Notice its straight pipe with adjustable J pipes. This is also the loudest setup next to open headers, and probably what I'll move to if J pipes do not kill the flowmaster drone. Also stop attempting to troll in my thread, if you don't like my car leave. Thanks

The 6l80e transmission is pretty good. All I'll be doing to it for the time being is a good tune. Take out some of the torque management and speed up the shifts a bit. I've been hunting for a used set of 3.27 gears from a camaro at a reasonable price. The Rear gear from the Camaro is a direct bolt in, and cheaper than doing ring and pinion.

Also DO NOT ORDER FROM PERFORMANCE CURVE ROANOKE VA. Its been 2 weeks since I ordered cats, got the wrong cats, and now they have stopped responding, and never answer their phone. Good thing I went through ebay and paypal instead of their website. Paypal does the pay ahead thing for me (They pay and withdraw it 2 weeks later), so I opened a dispute today, 1 day before I would have payed.

Aww man the sweet smell of a catless exhaust.



I had to fight the install, 6+ hours. Ended up having to grind the connecting pipe and settle for a small escape. Off to the muffler shop one day this week.

Car is embarrassingly loud right now with the escape. Sounds like a freaking Nascar if I floor it.

Actually its quieter than it was, flowmasters do a good job of making noise.
