So any comic nerds recognize any of the baddies escaping the bus? I feel like I saw killer croc in there but I never really read DC that much

Saw one with really tall white hair that looked to be distinct enough to be a character from the comics, but no idea who.

I don't know .

I have an acquaintance I met while bar-tending that works as a grip on the show. Back when they killed Mooney, he asked what he thought people would say. I told him she was the worst character I've seen on TV in a long time and that I was going to keep watching simply because of that. He said "good, the writers were worried but all the feedback was negative for her."

I have NO clue how that suddenly changed.

^ Jada Pinkett Smith is politically well-connected in Hollywood?

Last night's episode had the best take on the Mad Hatter I've seen in any medium.

I really wish I could go back and watch this show. Mad Hatter is one of my favorite characters. But I detest the Fish Mooney character and just cannot forgive them for doing that stupid shit.

^^ it looks like she went into hiding with Dr. Strange while he tries to "fix" her, imagine that's their way of writing them out while focusing on Mad Hatter for a few episodes, she wasn't in this week's episode at all

So now Penguin is gay for the Riddler? What??? I feel like they are really pressed for ideas here if that is what they came up with.

^ That was serious WTF? territory.

I do like the Mad Hatter extended storyline.

I feel like they've made Barbara into Season 1 Fish Mooney. "Let's figure out a way to drag Gordon to Barbara's bar to give her a minute to be crazy and drop some information."

So when did Bruce get super strength? He's like 14 yrs old and he was able to keep that rope taught enough for Selena to walk on. She's gotta weigh at least 100 lb. A freaking body builder wouldn't be able to keep the rope that tight.

Poor James Gordon. Does the right thing and he's going to get done for murder and the mob after him.

(I think he's infected too, it's just taking longer for it to become apparent compared to Barnes and Mario. Him shooting the Falcone goons is highly out of his character.)

Trying to catch up on this season, only through episode 6. Some thoughts so far, forgive me if any of this is answered in later episodes:

1) I thought Barns and Tabitha were both killed by Galavan/Azrael? Did I miss something?
2) The aging of Ivy was a huge mistake. Shark jumping to add a sexualized female villain. They turned a 14 year old girl into a 28 year old woman. That means the 28 year old still has the mind of a 14 year old, and yet she's off with much much much older gentleman (at least she was with one at the Penguin's victory party). It's both gross and unnecessary.
3) Never should have brought back Fish.
4) The Penguin and Riddler were more entertaining as odd-couple style roommates. Riddler was fantastic all of season 2 and now he's domesticated and subservient. Not sure I'm enjoying it. Also, I don't mind there being a homoerotic connection between the two, but they are making way too big of a deal about it and dragging it out.
5) The tea party...in my mind Gordon said to kill Lee knowing Hatter would do the opposite. He knew one had to be shot, so he cleverly made it so there were fully functioning doctors in the house to take care of Vale. But then afterwards, it seemed like Gordon had no idea what he was doing and admitted he gave Hatter exactly what he wanted. So I'm confused and think it was a missed opportunity by the writers to let Gordon use his brain when his brawn couldn't save them.
6) Is Valerie Vale related to Vicki Vale?
7) In season 2, when Professor Strange was considering which stories to fill his patients' minds with, he read an excerpt from Alice in Wonderland. I thought that meant he was going to create the Mad Hatter, but I guess it was just a teaser? But he did work on Alice, so maybe the connection was there? Hatter seems pretty obsessed with the story.

lol, how did he get out of the police station? I know he was wearing a police uniform but nobody noticed a policeman with a face covered in bandages and blood? Nobody at the hostage scene noticed when he just strolled in and grabbed Dwight?

Then how did he get all of those explosives? They were literally sticks of dynamite. The guy has been dead for like a year and just knows where he can get a shopping cart full of dynamite in less than an hour?

Yeah I was fine with him getting out of the station, they had cops scrambling to get to the TV station so that's plausible.

Jerome pulling out and setting up ALL of those explosives by himself(presumably) in <1 hour seemed a bit farfetched. I mean, we're already buying into the guy dying, being frozen, being brought back and surviving, so I mean I guess it's ok.

I've been watching. Love what they did with Riddler, hate what they did with Ivy. I'm meh on Penguin and Gordon's directions right now, and haven't made up my mind on Bruce's current arc.

^Agree. Riddler is great but one thing that is really annoying and works for just about all the villains they are introducing -- why would the Riddler even bother ever wearing a mask in the future Batman days? The police already know he is Edward Nygma. Why would he just outright tell them?

The whole deal with Poison Ivy is stupid too. She went from reasonably aged kid to hot and older because she fell in some chemicals? Come on.

I still think Bruce is a whiny little kid. The only redeeming quality about his storyline right now is Alfred. I wish they'd just focus more on Gordon and Bullock kicking ass.

I can understand them wanting to retcon Ivy and make her an adult instead of a tween. My problem is that she went from grumpy skeptic to bubbly. Sure a person can change like that as they grow up, but usually its in the opposite direction and not all at once. I commented a while ago that it's gross that they put a 14 year old's mind inside a 28 year old's body, considering how much her sexuality comes into play.

I'm curious to see where Bruce's story goes from captivity. Is this mysterious guy supposed to be Ras al Ghul? The downfall of Gotham stuff sounds a lot like it.

Trailers make it sound like everything this season will be centered on Penguin. Not sure how I feel about that, last season made him seem very nonthreatening.

I like the evolution of Gordon’s character throughout the series, and up until now I had really liked Bruce’s...however, his current arc is totally annoying and not really necessary. We all know that he will eventually turn and become Batman, so him being a little twat is just wasted airtime. Hopefully that gets rectified in the spring because it doesn’t add to the plot at all

Finally got around to watching this season and for the most part liked it. Bruce killing Ra's Al Ghul (as with him being a spoiled dick) isn't nearly as climactic as the show tries to make it. Yeah he might kill him and we saw his body decompose or whatever but we know he's coming back as a full fledged villain in like 15 years when Bruce is Batman. Same deal with Alfred being fired.

I was originally annoyed by Penguin but I feel he's gotten better. Szasz, even though only a minor henchman and nothing like the original character, is a likable villain too.

yeah I'm annoyed when they treat things that can't actually happen (at least permanently, based on what we already know from Batman stories) as being major plot points

Anyone watch the series finale? Kinda meh in my opinion. Seemed very rushed. Didn't even show Bruce, but I guess they couldn't make the kid look realistically older. The obvious recast of Selina stood out too much too. The Joker looked like the Crypt Keeper. The final reveal of Batman seemed pretty awful too. Was there some kind of contract nonsense that prevented them from ever actually saying the name "Batman"?

At least Penguin and Riddler looked decent.

I actually liked the Selena recast, I thought the girl playing Selena has looked odd the last season or so, not sure if it's the make-up or what but her face just looks puffy and oddly smooth.

I'm glad they didn't show the aged Bruce. One of my biggest issues with the show was believing the kid playing Bruce could beat ANYONE in a fight. I'm not sure they could have aged him enough to make it believable, esp given how much Selena aged, but I actually liked they didn't show much of Batman/Bruce in the finale.

Definitely felt a bit rushed and it was a bit odd they would lock up Riddler and Penguin given the Riddler was under mind-control on his attacks when they were isolated and they both were integral in helping save the day.

The entire arc of The Joker was...interesting? Also guess that wasn't supposed to be Harley Quinn the entire time since she clearly died?

^Totally agreed on the original girl playing Selena. She clearly was growing up, but her face always looked kinda puffy. It's almost as if she put on some weight, but somehow only in her cheeks. The rest of her body looked thin like you would expect Catwoman to look. I just thought it was kinda weird that they went with such an obvious recast when they could have prob just kept her in costume with her face hidden and it would have been fine.
