I thought at the beginning of the video it is just some couple of women doing it in their home, but it is a whole small-scale industry, with the women purchasing giant sacs of dirt from men who bring them from the mountains.

In Benin they don't do dirt cookies, but they have different tricks to deal with hungry children. One involves "cooking" what is basically a rock or other garbage in a pot and saying it just takes a long time, in hopes that the kids will eventually just fall asleep.

6-yo boy in GA fell ill a month ago with amoeba infection that got to his brain (he probably got it from playing in the dirt). He was taken to a hospital 2 weeks ago and just passed away a few days ago. His parents stayed with him in the hospital.
