^^^AHA, that is awesome. And I adored that team with McCauley the following year--such a strange group of guys, and they brought home the first win against Chapel Hill in over four years.

Talking about "class" and shit is, to me, maybe the most overrated thing in sports. Everybody talks about how classy Coach K is and how they win with class. Duke is also the most hated team in the country. Their not exactl winning people over by being so classy. So who gives a fuck about winning with class or whatever trumped up bullshit you wanna call it. Just go play the damn game and win and try not to be total assholes, I guess. That's the closest to "classy" I can really get. But the whole "so and so just does things the right way and wins with class". I focus on, and appreciate, the mindset of... "we are already better than them, don't need to rub it in any more"
It's not a debate of whether it's right or wrong to do it. It's to talk about where our program personnel's heads are at using a moment like that. For Lacey to, I'm guessing, go "meh, no need to dunk, I know we should have come in here and won, and we did that, is good enough for me"

Like I said, don't care if he had done it and if that is right or wrong. I'm just going by what I saw, and what I think it shows, which is a positive mindset of how capable our guys think they are and what they expect to accomplish when they go into these big games. Hopefully that will resonate in every game the program plays and we avoid Wofford, Clemson, and Wake games.

I'm well aware that Duke is considered elitist. Not sure I understand you bringing Coach K's record. He is a great coach and everybody here is aware of his long list of accomplishments. That really has as nothing to do with my point. The point was, if you win games people find subjective, unjustifiable reasons to hate your team. That's what sports are. Irrationally, illogically loving or hating teams and players. So winning with "class" is just another one of those made up, subjective reasons to like a team. Like the Carolina Way being completely stupid and baseless...I view winning with class in the same way.

I'm not sure what makes you say I made no sense based on what you quoted. My opinion on "class" is simple: play and win games. And don't be complete assholes on the court/field (thinking of cincy/xavier fight a few years ago). Not sure what's not to understand there.

What I was mentioning is that Lacey has been shooting lights out all season up to the Pitt game (mostly). Last night he turned things back around from two terrible games in terms of shooting for him. That is all I am talking about, purely shooting, Lacey is by far one of the best players in the ACC and one of the best isolation players in the NCAA.



Clemson was his worst game in terms of shooting, but look at Duke and LSU. However last night Lacey did turn things back into the right direction and that is a great sign against the #2 team in the nation. If we can keep the team playing how they are and get Lacey back into his normal rhythm, we have a solid Elite 8 team here.
