I just bought a new car about 3 weeks ago. I still haven't received anything to go register the vehicle. I called the dealership and was told it could take several weeks for me to receive the paperwork. Is this true? I'm financing this vehicle, will the bank gets the paperwork or me? This is my first time buying a new car/financing it, so I have no clue.

Did you buy it out of state? When I purchased mine out of state the dealership sent me the paperwork, and I had to take that to the DMV to register it.

If you got it in NC, then I had this problem a few months back. My 30 day tags/registration were about to expire and I hadn't gotten anything yet. The bank said there was nothing they could do but put pressure on the dealership for me. The DMV said to call enforcement and file a complaint. I never looked into actual solutions though, got it two days before I needed it.

Just ask the dealer for a new tag. The state is much slower with new registrations now, supposedly due to the state/county combined tax & registration system. I got mine about 3 days before my tag expired.

The process is a bit different now. You get a 30 day tag & registration from the dealer. DMV will eventually send you a plate, temporary sticker, and temporary registration. Once you pay the taxes, DMV will send you the annual sticker and registration.

Funny you mentioned the 996, I was just browsing the web for one yesterday. Camry will be my commute vehicle. 996 will be a weekend car.

That would be illegal.
