Heads up man. Don't ask beginner questions in here. David numbers will come chastise you for not knowing all facets of investing up front.

I mean if he's buying one stock and not planning on making a bunch of trades, Fidelity would be fine.

LULz...looks like they are either going to use the extra cash as leverage for a partnership for the Phase III trial, or they are just going to go it alone. The buyer is getting a very nice discount. The timing doesn't help either, as the bio sector overall has taken a huge hit the past 2 weeks from its peak.

Such is the life of a fledgling biopharm.

It could've been worse, considering the dump that took place after the offering announcement last summer. I was going to add more today if it fell below $8...too many catalysts coming up in the next few months.

I'm not so sure that's actually a thing as long as it's the right tech. If you're buying up anything and everything with a single lowercase letter in a box as its logo then maybe, but if you're just heavy in apple, google, and the like you're probably fine.

I'm not so sure diversification for the sake of diversification is wise or even necessary anymore.

Yeah I'm ridiculously heavy in Apple. I bet it's 15% or more of my portfolio.

Is it just regional pride that makes you guys excited to own a piece of Bojangle's or do you actually have some rational basis to want to buy?

Personally I don't want anything to do with fast food at this point in time. They're running up against an industry wide decrease in top line sales (at least in the US) and a potentially massive uptick in labor costs.

So just call fidelity and say hey, i want to purchase some bojangles stock? Also, how much is a minimum to buy stock like this?!

the minimum is the current stock price + any commission fees

you may want to start with something safer that doesn't fluctuate as much as an ipo

Or at least wait a while before you buy it so the price normalizes. If you're not buying it to make a quick buck, there's no reason to buy on IPO day.

I, however, will be purchasing some BOJA today fo sho.

^ was on Robinhood like 2 mins before the opening bell.

I put in an initial limit order at 20 and then it opened at 26.55. I got in at 27. Gonna hold it for a while and see what it does.

Tried getting some at 22 via scottrade, but obviously that didnt happen

Let's see how far she slides ... It seems to be a sorta blah time to be entering the market as a whole, so not sure what BOJO was thinking timing wise, but I guess they don't care where it goes on day 2 as long as they pull in a ton of money on the actual offering day.

They are pretty late to the Ebola party if they are just starting trials for a treatment. Glad I sold a couple months ago, because this is tanking.

I'm waiting on Fitbit, I think with the lawsuit from Jawbone it's going to scare people away. Probably the best wearables company in the market.

Can anyone recommend me a mutual fund? I am stock stoopid.

I want to start socking some money away, the way my business has been this year I don't have enough to buy a rental property, but could benefit from putting some money in savings every month.

Also what are the fees like? Say I want to pull money out for an investment prop at some point in the future? Say my income tax bill comes in higher than I had hoped and I need to withdraw to pay it? (I am self employed) Do I get raped?

1. VFINX
2. Your savings account should be separate from your investment account
3. .17% expense ratio
4. Depends upon the investment vehicle. In a non retirement account it shouldn't matter unless you get some stupid C? shares which are backloaded.

yeah i like fitbit as a product, but they play in a space that has no moat. it would be trivial for an AAPL or some other company to eat their lunch.

honestly, their only competitive advantage they have is a better web/app experience and an entrenched networked userbase. if not for that, i'd probably choose a different fitness tracker.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals advanced 3 per cent to $8.88 on industry gossip that leading pharma groups were sniffing around. Indeed, speculation is rife that GlaxoSmithKline, 26p cheaper at 1411.5p, has had an $18 (£11.70) a share cash offer already rejected by the Inovio board. With rivals Roche, Bristol Myers and Merck all believed to be interested, analysts reckon the eventual take-out price could be nearer $30 (£19.50) .

Jesus Christ, it's a teaching example, not a god damned stock or fund tip.

I wish I had started saving earlier, I think just about everybody who has any kind of financial goals wishes they had put more of the money they earned in high school into AAPL instead of buying gas for our 1994 Honda Accord and boone's farm wine. I mean, that memory of fingerbanging my buddy's sister at the sonic drivethru is cool and all, but I'd rather have an extra half a million when I retire.
