I wasn't aware that it was a crime to encourage somebody to commit suicide (even if they're about to physically do it). I agree that she's a horrendous bitch, but I'm not sure I'm okay with charging her with anything. There are people in this world who are enormously mean, but saying mean shit to people isn't (and shouldn't be) a crime.

I agree, and I do hope she's ostracized by all decent folk in her acquaintance.

I wonder, though, if she's really rubbing it in everybody's faces? maybe she's genuinely remorseful, and that's why she raised all this money for a foundation and so on. it DOES seem far more likely that she's is indeed a sociopath who's now praising him for the hypocritical pleasure of it; but still, the remorse-interpretation also seems possible. maybe she never believed he'd kill himself, and was horrified when it actually happened.

just throwing this out there, since news reports can be misleading. not that I'd bet on it.

Acting with reckless disregard for human life is illegal. If it results in the death of another, then that can be involuntary or voluntary manslaughter. However, I think the difficulty here will be proving that, but for her actions, he would not have committed suicide.

I heard about this kid last week. My thoughts are that this kid, like most youths, is most likely parroting the things he hears his parents/teachers/friends say, forming a myopic view of the world. He hasnt yet developed the critical skills necessary to make a meaningful, in depth critical analysis of complex geopolitical issues.... and thats OK....he's a kid. I dont see how a kid having an opinion is news, or newsworthy.

Since he's just a kid, maybe you should lay off.

A lot of us would be mortified by the things we said or believed at 13.

At least this kid is motivated/interested/passionate about something. His adolescent ability to care about something other than himself is actually pretty remarkable.


I do agree that it's not news, of course. But I'm not about to attack a child or even suggest that his views are uninformed; at 13, he's still more informed than plenty of adults I know.
