I enjoyed the first much more than the second.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see this going downhill fast.

Agree with everyone, liked the first episode better than the second. Overall the girl just seems to bring the show down, I liked him just goofing off.

Just not sure why anyone would pick Tuscon of all the places in the US to settle down.

^I've never been so correct me if I'm wrong, but it is warm all year round and you don't really have to deal with bad weather or natural disasters. As long as he had a water supply, should be a comfortable place. I think maybe his apartment was there though, so maybe he just lived there already and knew the city.

One thing I noticed -- I think it showed a lizard on the road but aside from that I don't think there were any other animals. I'd think he'd at least have a dog to keep him company.

Yea I was wondering about the animals as well. I must have missed the lizard in my two times watching as I never saw a single other living creature. Plants are fine and obviously whatever happened left no bodies and no carnage. I understand its just a comedy but with so many other post-apocalyptic movies/tv shows these days, its hard not to think about it. My wife even said "Where are all the bodies?" Its not a show stopping issue, but it would be interesting to see if they address it at all, or just maintain the status quo and not really discuss it.

Agree that the girl's character is dull and not helping, but she was great in Flight of the Concords, decent on the Daily Show, and excellent in Bob's Burgers, so I have some faith it will be better going forward if they continue to use her

^^I may have mistaken it for Better Call Saul. Both are set in the Southwest. I could have sworn it showed a lizard crossing the road at one point though. It didn't even show any birds or anything though. Maybe that is another reason they set it in Tucson? Just less wildlife in general?

I enjoyed it. I would think that Tucson wouldn't be an awful place considering you would probably want somewhere with a decently warm climate. Dealing with the heat is probably easier then dealing with cold when you have no electricity.

I enjoyed him goofing off alone, but I'm not sure how you do an entire season of him goofing off alone, so I'm fine with bringing her in. I just hope that the show is a lot more of him corrupting her then her making him follow the rules. I am curious to see how they will bring other characters in. I would assume they will find other women and maybe the season ends with him finding another guy. I know it goes against the name of the show but it has to happen eventually.

I could also see them going really dark and having everyone he meets die soon after meeting him. Would be pretty entertaining, but again, not sure how long they can drag that idea out.

I'm thinking that if it DOES go dark, Carol will end up just being a hallucination the whole time and he truly is the last person alive. She did appear right when he was about to kill himself, so he was obviously in a stressed state of mind and he hasn't actually seen anyone in two years so he would definitely be a little loopy.

^That and she's basically helping him to pull himself together and focus on being productive instead of binge-drinking every day just to kill time. Interesting theory, and wouldn't surprise me if it was true.

I just questioned Tuscon because of the temperature, I imagine during the summer months it would be pretty miserable with no A/C or clean water supplies to cool off in.

Also thought the same thing about the bodies and cars on the major highways. They show other cars randomly around the city, but when he's driving on major highways you don't see any broken down cars(like you would in most other post-apocalyptic shows). He clearly said they survived the infection/outbreak yet there is no sign of bodies or anything anywhere. Would be better if it was more of a he woke up and everyone was just gone spin.

Also wouldn't surprise me if the whole thing is just his character in a coma and it's all in his head.

surprisingly no...I read the interview with Kristen Schaal on Hitfix. She basically said it's one of the noisiest sets she's ever worked on. Planes, trains, automobiles for days.

Well since it is a comedy show, it can get away with stuff like not explaining why bodies and cars and stuff aren't littering the city. After a few months, all the gas in people's tanks would break down and various car batteries would die too so he wouldn't be able to drive anywhere at this point anyway.

Just read that. I understand her comments as saying that when you're working on a show that needs complete silence, you really realize how many noises there are in the world.

Either way, I'd think somewhere like Tuscon would have less noise than California or New York.

and by 13 year old boy, I mean all of us dudes. blowtorching things. steamrolling beer cans. shooting your way into places. I laugh every time.

So basically it looks like Will Forte watched a few episodes of Utopia and pitched a better, funnier replacement once it was cancelled by Fox.

I laughed when he singed his tennis ball friend during his epic bachelor party.

If repopulation was the actual goal, it should not be an issue for him to impregnate as many women as he can. Yeah it kind of sucks for Carol but in that situation they need as many babies as possible. Its not like she is in love with him anyway, if anything they just now got to the point where they can barely tolerate each other.

Tucson's dry and all of the houses are designed to reflect heat. As long as you could stay out of the sun you'd be okay.
