It is because it is red. Red always gets pulled over*

*that is what my mother told me. Actually false based on police reporting and insurance institute.

^^ it was a pretty good steal. Fairly below Nada with about $5k in mods to boot.

^actually not running tags until tires come in and inspection. Cary cop was totally cool. With the HUD I find myself doing speed limit most of the time...

Oh and z51 package

Haha. Yeah. Cold starts really make it sound more lopey. It calms down some after warming up

Ligenfelter intake, fast 102 IM, shaved heads, kooks longtubes and x-pipe, comp cam 228/232 114* (.588/.595). Tuned to 460rwhp.

Just ordered new f1 all seasons since this will likely be driven all year round. Will be looking at a 2nd set of rims and summer tires later for fun.

He tells me "Its got a baby cam in it", then I see the specs I need to make time to come check it out. That cam has 2 degrees of overlap, sounds about right when compared to mine with 0 degrees of overlap.

I have a baby cam, 219/227 .607/.614 112+0

Lope can be manipulated by how good the tuner is on the LS cars. I've seen guys with a 219/223 cam that shouldn't lope much, have a huge lope with the wrong tuner.

you will still be seeing the taillights all the way down the track.

Guess the displacement just eats it up better.

I forget I got like 2.2 liters on it.

Nice looking car Hiro! I've had the chance to autocross a 2009 C6 Z51 (in that same color actually) twice now, and really enjoyed it. I'm not normally a fan of red cars but I really like Corvettes in that color. I bet yours is a blast with those mods

Thanks guys! I appreciate the comments and support. I totally love the car. the mpgs hurt a little, but having a bike will help offset that expense after pollen season passes...

I'm surprised the c6, as old as it is, gets a lot of comments... I figured the general public would be numb to this car by now. Its no where near flashy like an f-type, a tesla , or a c7 for that matter.this is by far the nicest and fastest car I've ever had...

wait, is that your car with the lope above? If so, that's why you're getting the attention. I typically don't pay any vehicle attention unless it's got an abnormal sound.

Congrats dude. Prices are definitely coming down on these. I have seen 05's with 100k+ selling for $15-16k.

I myself am in the market for one, but just can't find the perfect mix of having: manual, Z51, and low miles for under $20k yet.

^ I wouldn't fear mileage on a Corvette as long as the owner is a older gentleman or woman. For the most part they are garage/highway queens. 100k on a LS is nothing, go ahead and come to the Domestic Dark Side.

I would caution you to stay AWAY from 06-08 C6-Z06 with mileage. They are known to drop valves, and LS7 parts are crazy expensive.

The c6 is also notorious for the "Service Active Handling" error that will come up as well. One of the symptoms of this error is benign where as other can be annoying (at low speeds, stability management takes over and will brake one of the wheels and cut throttle). Fortunately, they are just quarks and don't really require any attention to drive the car. Just turn the car off, start it back up, and the car resets the sensors and everything is fine again. The only time the latter has happened is when crossing significant speed bumps, in the cold (my personal observation). The former is a steering column sensor issue and that only happens rarely if the steering wheel is going from lock to lock (ie: parking lot maneuvers).

I've always bought 100k+ miles cars and have always had "bad luck" with them. Other than the typical Service Active Handling error, everything else about the car is solid. I wouldn't hesitate to get another clean example. Most are around NADA, (2005 ~70k miles all original, 3LT and z51 package, $23k NADA with most of the market asking ~$24-$26k) I got mine well below that with upgraded sounded system, motor upgrades, and upgraded Bilstein suspension... Just gotta find the right one at the right time and snatch it up.

I saw a 161k mile z51 for sale asking $16k on clist, but I won't ever own a car with that high of mileage ever again unless it's diesel or pre-OBD.

Nice to meet you. Had a blast following that machine.

Don't forget about VIR on the 3rd, there's more fun to be had Without worrying about cops ruining it.

Hiro Here is the adjustment screw on the catch can, no wonder I couldn't find it the other night. Also here is the drain valve I used on mine. Note that the bracket needs to be on the can prior to installing the new valve since its too big to fit through it.

Got a chance to ride in, and then got a chance to sit behind the wheels of this car today.
All I could say, was "hahaha, holy shit."
I'm really impressed with this machine.

Also gave him a stint behind the wheel of the maxima.

The maxima is a very nice car to drive. I had fun with it! The CVT is fun because you can feel that torque pull the car along so smooothly. Car sounds great and makes for a great commuter. The steering response and the tire tracking could improve as we discussed, but that's the compromise you get with DWS, amongst other things. Also probably doesn't help you've got wide tires on there. I enjoyed it!

And boy were you grinning. You've gotta get back into the RWD manual cars soon dude. I haven't seen any material possessions make you that happy in a looong time.

Meetup with BlackJesus the other night...

Car looks tiny compared to the firebird

Look ma, no tires!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing; that makes me very nervous.

Unless they have a mechanical lock? I've actually had to help lift a car off a guy before because of this.

Thankfully it was a light-ass kit-car.

They do that when your car is too low for the lifts. When I go they lift mine a axle at a time with jacks, no stands.

At discount tires, they had a guy on each side of the car and they counted off so that they lifted the car from all 4 points at the same time. I'm glad nothing happened, but I was a bit nervous. Granted, I haven't had the car long enough to be attached yet, so if something happened, I wouldn't exactly have freaked out...

But now I have an attachment to the car. Over 1,100 miles in the past 9 days. Puts a grin on my face every time I open the door. So fun to drive. I love it.

okay i can understand lifting all 4 corners if the car is too low to drive onto a lift, but i can't understand not even throwing a jack stand at each corner so nothing comes crashing down

Agreed, though even if one of the 4 jacks failed nothing would happen. Car would stay up on just 3 jacks.
