Apparently Huckabee is going to announce he is going to run. What a colossal waste of time.

*sigh* again.

Huckabee will appeal to the religious right, but that's about it. His deep religious background will be a negative for everyone else.

I really haven't read up on Jindal. I think his time will be 2020. This round will be a waste of his time.

They should seriously make a reality tv show out of the Republican primary. Most of the personalities are batshit insane enough, and different enough, to make it watchable.

And the winner automatically gets the electoral votes for some shithole state like Alabama or something.

Jindal's time may have been 2004, but it certainly won't be 2020

Jindal has taken a 900 million surplus and turned it into a 1.6 billion budget shortfall. He's "converted" to the religion that can get him the most money. He's trying to follow Walker in gutting higher education funding. No way he survives any real debate or scrutiny.

Not like the Republican debates will have tough, differentiating questions posed to the 16 or so candidates. And there certainly won't be enough face time for all of them to explain their pov on various matters (as if they vary that much from the extremist playbook that they are all playing by in order to get the funding).

Fiorina is so bad at campaigning, I wonder who made her think she'd make a good politician.

Walker still leads GOP. I can see him winning the primary, but I can't see him winning the general with his current set of views.

Jeb just shot himself in the foot, tied a cinder block to his other leg, and jumped in a shark tank. How can you, a decade after the truth came out, say that you'd still invade Iraq knowing what you know now.

GOP Presidential Candidates Blow Their 'Sister Souljah' Opportunity to Denounce Right-wing Extremism

Quote :
"Wait a minute, you might be saying. Wait one darn, cotton-pickin' minute. These people are, well, batshit-crazy. Yet the governor of Texas is going along with them? Yep. And he wasn't the only one. Among presidential candidates, Rick Perry, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz all commented on Jade Helm 15, and while none was as sickeningly sympathetic to the conspiracy theorists as Abbott, each in his own way sucked up to them. Perry -- even as he gently chided his successor in Austin -- couldn't resist throwing in a dig about our elected "civilian leadership" (that's President Barack Obama he's talking about, for anyone not hearing the dog whistle) being less "trustworthy" than the military. Cruz and Paul, for their parts, said that they would "inquire" and "look at" the exercises, respectively."

Is there really much to talk about?

My concern now is how do we give all of these candidates fair platforms to tell us about what they believe. There's no way to have debates for everyone.

We just need to set up a bracket system.

Yea hopefully the defeat would be so total and Santorum and Cruz stayed on their crazy train so that only the most mentally challenged Republican could say.. Well if they were more conservative they would have won.

Ie all the tea party talk after McCain and romney lost.

After a few election cycles like that then there could be actual change in the GOP. This is assuming billionaires get tired of throwing millions in the toilet.

I don't think Hillary is a very compelling candidate, even given her gender.

I suspect/hope it will be close.

^^ I hope it is a landslide or it will be like ground hog day for the next 8 years. And it will be 8 years if Hillary wins a close one unless something dramatic happens like Republicans switch to pro decrimilizing weed after they take that gamble for young single issue voters. I am not pro Clinton but just judging by the past 3 two term presidents.

[Edited on May 31, 2015 at 3:29 PM. Reason : also i hope that it is a landslide that creates a more pragmatic/real republican party.]

Carson, Cruz, Fiorina, Graham Huckabee, Pataki, Paul, Rubio and Santorum = 9 announced

Perry is announcing this week (Wednesday?) that'll be 10.

Bush, Christie, Walker, Jindal, Kasich are 'exploring'

So we very well might have 15 candidates before the first debate in August.

If/when Clinton wins a referendum style election I hope she goes ball to the wall with whatever batshit crazy ideas her masters demand of her. She's the most bought and paid for candidate of all time, I could see her causing so much outrage that we might actually get some real reform in things like campaign finance.
