I just setup my friends network at his house and he is worried the name I gave to his network will be seen and flagged by his IT dept when he VPNs into his work.

Could an IT dept actually see his home network name? I don't think so, but my network knowledge is limited.

His network name: "wifi4porn" (one of his neighbors had one that is "wifi4work"). Yes, I am 13.

They won't see his SSID name.

the VPN tunnel is established between his laptop/PC and the VPN server on the corporate network. Everything outside of that tunnel is invisible in a packet trace.

The only way they could see his home network name is if he's desktop sharing with someone at work and his SSID is visible on his desktop, etc.

all they can see is it is encrypted traffic. Unless they are able to backdoor in and screengrab shit on his work PC...

SSID, no. workgroup/local broadcast domain, it depends on the vpn client and your OS. hopefully you didn't set the router's domain to wifi4porn.local or something
