I don't have Hulu, but I may subscribe for a month to catch this. It looks like it might be pretty good. JJ Abrams is on board, with James Franco playing the main character. I thought the book was really good...I would put this up there with The Green Mile, where there's just a touch of supernatural.

Just a touch? The whole plot is based on a magical time travel doorway

Not knocking, I'm excited too, but just a touch doesn't seem accurate

But would you consider Back to the Future supernatural? Not really, but you're still dealing with the same kinds of concepts. Except here, it's just a magical closet rather than a DeLorean. The time travel piece is the only supernatural part to it. It isn't really the antagonist here, where most of King's books have some sort of supernatural being as the antagonist.

I guess maybe in some lit class somewhere you could make the argument that the doorway itself is the bad guy, but it's a stretch.

But we're certainly not dealing with a child-eating demon clown.

so long as they do it as a one-off series and don't totally butcher another excellent book like they did with "under the dome"

Book gets a little more supernatural in the last 50 pages or so, if I remember.

Regardless I'm interested to see what they'll do with this as a series.

King's novels are coming back to movies/TV in a big way recently. I dig it.

Although it is supernatural in its technical definition, I think in modern times the word supernatural usually means more towards scary stuff like ghosts or demons or something like that. There isn't anything inherently evil about anything that happens in 11/22/63. It's more science fiction in my opinion.

Great book though, I read it a few years ago and couldn't put it down.

Did anybody watch this? I watched the pilot, and it seems interesting, but way over-acted, IMHO.

I watched it. It was good but the story felt kind of rushed for me. Probably because it was a 1000+ page book crammed into only 8 episodes. Still, for putting that much info into such a short series, it did a good job.

Also, the character of Bill didn't need to exist.

I thought the first few episodes were really captivating and had a creepy/Lost type of feel and then just went to total corny shit. They should have stuck with the whole "if you fuck with time, time will fuck with you back" type of thing.

I dug it. Franco surprised me with how well he pulled it off.
