it's definitely very good. I was hooked for a bit, but I don't know if I like it as most of my friends seem to. It's AOTY status for some of them.

The new Tiny Moving Parts album is enjoyable (RIYL American Football, Hotelier). I've always been lukewarm on them but it is by far their strongest release. That's what I've been listening to all morning so far. The new PUP album was solid too.

Hotelier album killed it though. I honestly think I might like Goodness better than Home now.

I've tried so hard to like the new Avett Brothers. There are a couple tracks that have grown on me; but overall, I'm incredible disappointed.

It's 2016 and, against all odds, Every Time I Die is still putting out music that I enjoy. First track off the new album is killer.

Saw Guns N Roses last night in DC and it was an awesome show. If you get a chance to go see them, go. Axl can still hit the notes, and Slash is, well, Slash. Played for almost 3 hours and hit virtually every song you could want from them.

I was in NYC for Memorial weekend and wanted to see a show at the Bowery. Saw Filligar was headlining and listened to some stuff on Spotify and thought they were ok so I went.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise opened for them and they were outstanding. Seriously great stuff. Half the audience left when they went off because apparently the show sold out for them. Filligar was crap compared to them. \

Really amazing live - it's way more high energy than their studio recordings.

Found out they were from Boone and so I went and saw them at Cat's Cradle two weeks later and it was an awesome sold out show. They played Festival at the Eno last weekend and they'll be back in town for Hopscotch too.

Highly recommend checking these guys out. Devil Like Me, Mr. Redundant, Cocaine Jesus, etc. are just a few great ones.

^^i'll give it a shot.

Was digging on the Blood Orange record all weekend. I think it's a bit melodramatic at times maybe but there are some killer songs.

Caught Pinegrove and Sports last night too. Pinegrove sounded great.

The Anohni album is my favorite of this year so far. Really good. The juxtaposition of her voice and the electionic bleeps, blips, and blops is sublime. That Obama track makes me laugh though everytime she says his name.

Other 2016 albums I've check out this year:

Bowie - Blackstar
Really good. Love the horns.

Explosions in the Sky - The Wilderness
Besnard Lakes - A Coliseum Complex Museum
I enjoy both of these bands but something felt lacking with the songwriting. Tracks were much shorter and didn't quite hit those highs. Besnard's Tungsten 4: The Refugee was a highlight.

Field - The Follower
A slight disappointment but only because because his previous two were 10s.

Kanye West - The Life of Pablo
I love Kanye the artist. I never know what to expect and I'm always left impressed. Despite all the hate the second half of Famous is sublime. The run of Waves-FML-Real Friends is great.

M83 - Junk
Sort of a train wreck but I can't look away. This is album is all over the place and probably my least favorite. Quite a departure from his Dead Cities and Before the Dawn sound which I miss.

Mogwai - Atomic
Not bad, not great. Good work music for me but nothing really stands out.

Shearwater - Jet Plane and Oxbow
Sounds like a much better Coldplay

Wolf Parade - EP
I just want another Sunset Rubdown album to be honest.

Yeasayer - Amen & Goodbye
I liked Silly Me but felt short and not as good as Odd Blood.

Woods - City Sun Eater in the River of Light
Big Woods fan. Lots of great tunes and love their pop-folk-rock sound.

Destroyer - Poison Season
I know this is from last year but I had to give a shout out to my favorite album of 2015.

Anderson Paak? I didn't look at the lineup yet since I'm not in the Carolinas anymore. I really regret missing him again recently here.

Also, I had conflicting plans Friday and missed Baroness. However, the consolation prize was running into them at 1am at my neighborhood dive. Super fun dudes.

Very nice. I've been all about him this year.

This week I've been enjoying the new-ish album from The Amazing. I've never been a fan - tried and didn't click. But this new record caught me off guard. I was in a record store this weekend and, with the song that was on when we walked in, my bro-in-law and I both could have sworn it was some Mark Kozelek material neither of us had heard. The album isn't great by any means but it definitely has that early Sun Kil Moon vibe on several tracks. Enjoyable mood music.

Also, going to see The Get Up Kids tomorrow. no shame.

^^^ really excited to listen to the Cymbals Eat Guitars album; just put it in the phone. I was listening to LOSE two weeks ago and was wondering when they were going to put something else out.

Not sure what to make of the new Bon Iver. I liked the song they performed on Fallon last week but haven't been crazy about the other tracks. I do like that he's trying to evolve his sound but the final product just not hitting me right.

yeah im going to see Cymbals Eat Guitars with Field Mouse and Wildhoney Saturday at a very small venue. Should be fun.

I'm still looking forward to the Bon Iver. I've liked a couple of the new tracks a lot and one of them didn't do much for me. But I'm sure I will enjoy it as a whole.

Can someone help me determining a band? They were on NPR this morning around 8:45am, i caught the very end of it. A Girl and a guy, mainly just them and a guitar, had a song called Southern Son. Also had a song called something like Wild Fire, or maybe that was the name of the band?? They're playing around the triangle in late November.
