My boss lives in alabama and huge auburn fan. He worked under Gus Malzahn - He likes this guy and mention we might give a few teams fits this year. Good hire imo.

solid interview. the idea of playing to your QBs strengths is good and i like to hear it...everything he said sounded great. but it's hard to put a lot of stock into it until we see it on the field.

The whole "mascot name" nation thing is worn and ridiculous. Very few teams really have national followings (ND for example). I hear Hokie nation all the time up here in VA and have never met a Hokie fan outside of north western NC or VA.

We should not even embarrass ourselves by using the phrase Wolfpack Nation.

oh i agree...i think it's stupid. and especially stupid when every team says it. "tar heel nation" "wolfpack nation" "hokie nation"...it's just worn out imo.

Back in the 90s we were referred to by many simply as "The Nation". Wolfpack Nation has been a long time thing that other schools are trying to copy

So??? Is this guy really an improvement over Canada or what?

Time for McClendon over Finley? Upside for the season is 7-5 so should we switch to the guy with more potential?

lets see if his struggles continue when we aren't playing the best defenses in the country

[Edited on October 22, 2016 at 4:54 PM. Reason : if he doesn't get off vs bc, i'd start mcclendon for fsu]

[Edited on October 22, 2016 at 4:55 PM. Reason : id even pull him after a bad 1st quarter against bc]

This game was pretty bad for Eli. Our running game was terrible and he kept trying to run Dayes up the middle at the end.

Offense got worse this season. Defense got better. I didn't see much difference with a new coordinator.

Meanwhile at Pitt they have the #2 ranked offense and ours is 80th.

yeah didn't see a ton of difference in the O either. not sure if Doeren has his fingers on the scale offensively as far as play calling. i would tend to think that's less the case with Doeren having a defensive coach. but who knows. maybe in year 2, with more time, there will be a more marked difference.

We have low TD efficiency in redzone but just about every ACC team with a higher eff has way fewer RZ trips. Louisville is the only one with as many trips but (slightly) higher eff

Also 4 of our RZ misses include Finley fumble, Meyers getting an inch of his foot out of bounds, McClendon running out clock for Furman and last drive against SC where we had to throw to end zone bc of clock.

i think the red zone issues are a legitimate gripe. and the play calling at times in the red zone has been head scratching.

This is literally the only thing you listed that is a good excuse for not scoring in the redzone.

i worded it poorly. one is probably a product of the other so it's not necessarily two separate things.

I thought this was about Drink's offensive playcalling not overall redzone performance.

The playcalling made Finley drop the ball? The playcall made Meyers step out?

And for the SC game, the playcalling was severely restricted yet we were still super close to a score.
