I'm not sure what he is even trying to argue. Maybe just being contrarian? Trump is the king of otherism. Not even sure his supporters debate that.

And no one is running around saying Kasich or Rubio appeal to the racist segment of society, just Trump. Not the right. Just Trump.

He talks on a third grade level and makes it humorous...he is reaching out to every fool who is pissed off about something in the entire country. He is not looking for educated voters.

The intelligent people who are voting for him see how artfully he is doing what he is doing and are impressed. I must say its the best salesmanship I have ever seen behind an political podium. He talks in circles so even if he says something offensive he goes on to something people go nuts for before they even have time to stay mad.

Education is free, up to a point. By the time most students are done with K-12, they're not remotely prepared for college or work. Virtually everyone that went to public school recognizes this; they went to college and were astonished at the amount of work it took to succeed.

So, clearly making something free isn't good enough to make someone smart. It not only has to be free, it has to be high quality, and public school ranges somewhere between low and average quality. Of course, the most important factor is having parents that care. If you don't have good parents and you still succeed, you're the exception, not the rule.

I'm impressed with what he's doing. I've said all along contrary to the panic in the progressive liberal elite, I really see this all as one big reality show for the Trump and is just one big sales pitch that he's carefully catered his message to resonate with the whole under-educated pissed off working class american. Unlike Cruz, I don't think he really is going to go after all the backwards ass shit he talks about. Plus i think he INTENTIONALLY keeps an ambigious platform. As the front-line candidate and with self-proclaimed $billions, you think he would have paid someone to invent a platform for him as this one of his opponents criticisms.

He keeps an ambigious platform unlike Cruz who has a narrow-focused platform.

I'm not voting for him but GENIUS!

I think the failure of K-12 is more your opinion than actual. By eliminating the financial hurdle of college education you'd have more college educated voters. maths.

An overwhelming majority of parents care. many simply aren't educated enough to know the right thing to do but this idea that parents don't care about their child's education is a poor excuse.

I'm not a "make college free" guy -- I'm not even a "get rid of student loan debt" guy, and I've got student loan debt -- but nobody is arguing that making college free (or just more affordable) would make it better, would make it produce smarter people. It would really help out those people who actually do leave K-12 well prepared for college, educationally-speaking.

Put another way, I don't think I'd have gotten a better education from NCSU if it were cheaper or free. I would be as educated, I just wouldn't owe somebody seventeen thousand dollars.

Here is an interesting take on the Trump supporters: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/mar/07/donald-trump-why-americans-support

I just wish these same folks would be backing Bernie instead. He has a proven track record. It's hard to trust Trump to actually stick to his promises.

Well he is rich and successful. Most successful business people have failed.

This is not a defense of him running for presidency by anymeans, I just think it's a poor thing to use to critique him when Sanders basically never had a job.

^I think it might be a good thing to get someone from the private sector in the White House for once and not another person who has been a politician almost their entire life. Of course that will be tough to do because it seems like the really rich people always run as a republican and the democrats are the masters of preaching how rich people are evil and they need to be taxed a lot more.

he has failed though, he could have parked his inheritance in a very conservative fund and he would have more money than he does today. his CV is a series of business failure after business failure.

that statement is rather bold, considering that no one really knows what he's worth now, what exactly he inherited, or takes into consideration the expenses of the extravagant lifestyle he has lived up until now. His inheritance was estimated to be closer to $40 million, not the $200 million that keeps getting thrown around in the debate. His father was believed to be worth about that much, but the money was split between 4 of the 5 kids and his mother. Estimates for his net worth seem to be all over the place, and along the way he has managed to create a brand name that gets franchised out.

He has had some epic failures along the way, and he also had family business connections and lines of credit available to him that are almost impossible to put a dollar figure on. Regardless, those articles that keep touting how a simple index fund would have outperformed him are overly simplistic. A simple index fund investment wouldn't have the GOP establishment and SJWs about to shit their pants about the possibility of President Trump, and that kind of legacy is probably worth more to Trump than any dollar value.

I would never vote for him, his economic policy ideas are protectionist in a way that can't work in a globalized world (there's no turning it back either), he is too authoritarian for my taste based on his stance on imminent domain and anti-islam rhetoric. His border ideas are not out of the norm for either party. A secure border is a matter of national security, not a single candidate in either party is against secure borders or rigorous enforcement. His deportation ideas are extreme and not doable, but they make for good rhetoric.

The one thing I do like is that both parties are terrified of him and hate him. So, there's at least something going for him. At this point, breaking the stranglehold that the Democrats and the Republicans have on the system may be more important than anything else that can be done in this election cycle.

Trump took over as president of his father's company in 1974, when the S&P500 was around 96 at the start of the year. Today the S&P500 is around 2050. If Trump had liquefied his $40 million in assets and placed them in an index fund while not spending a dime for the next 40 years and cheating the IRS out of capital gains tax the whole way, he'd be worth ~$854 million. Forbes places Trump's net worth at $4.5 billion.

There are lots of people on the fence about where they stand...moderates, independents. All it takes is for Hillary to shift some of her stances a little more towards the middle, and she wins all the moderates and independents. There is no way Trump can win, because Hillary knows how to court the moderates.

Another protester got assaulted at a Trump rally today. Interesting to see how media plays this. Protester had a picture of Trump's face with a confederate flag on it and was with another person wearing a Klang hood. As they were being escorted out the guy with the picture got clocked by a black Trump supporter, who was promptly arrested without any resistance.

Hillary and Bernie have been promoting class warfare. Watching Hillary participate in that bullshit is doubly entertaining, considering that her husband oversaw such disasters against the poor as welfare reform, NAFTA, and his COPS plan.
