so many options with luke, other than the panic attack idea which I hadn't thought of 1. just really shook up, upset feels he let down the team 2. can concussions fuck you up emotionally instantaneously, if so wow 3. the worst being ok my career is fucked now is why I'm so upset, anyway he pretty much gave a face to the whole concussion saga now

Eh, you're exaggerating. We don't need 5 offensive lineman, and draft position does matter when it comes to getting an elite QB, pass rusher, or offensive tackle. We need two of those right now. Look, we've had a nice three year run and while this year is a set back, we're still setup pretty good long term. I'd rather we get a top 5 left tackle or defensive end then win some meaningless games that leave us short of the playoffs.

there are plenty of elite players to be drafted outside of the first round

this isn't the NBA. there are waaaay more variables in the NFL draft. draft position in the 1st round doesn't matter all that much, especially for a franchise that tends to hit on their 1st round picks, regardless of where the pick is.

After fidgiting around with the playoff machine, there is still a path to the playoffs at 8-8. But that means actually playing at potential, and that doesn't look likely to happen any time soon.

Next week the Panthers need a win AND a Tampa Bay loss to stay alive. A couple other things will make it easier (Cards, Redskins, Green Bay losing), but those don't necessarily have to happen.
