^ who cares about a dozen dead terrorists/future terrorists? those women and children got what they deserved for shielding terrorists.

what matters is how a precious american died.

we must spend millions investigating!

I can only imagine how the leftist media would be shitting themselves if that happened during Trump's term.

We already saw it with the death of one SEAL.

Obama has 20-30 die in a special forces fuck up, and the media blames everyone but Obama. Trump has 1 SEAL die and the same media outlets act as if Trump is guilty of involuntary manslaughter through negligence.

so I was in the coffee shop this morning and two conspiracy people were talking, most of it was dumb shit, but this gem was kinda awesome for how bad it was:

"You know, Hitler didn't torch the Jews on day one, he worked up to it, how long till Trump tries to get all the Muslims?"

I lost my shit right then and busted out laughing, they looked at me, but didn't say anything.
Thinking back, I should have told them that we did land on the moon, and that 9/11 wasn't an inside job, etc...

If Trump even got anywhere close to that shit, his own people would turn on him,

well most of them,

ok, some of them,

hell, enough to impeach anyway.

^ i'd hope that happened, but what makes you think AMericans now are superior to Germans back in the day?

As Trump has shown, there's nothing stopping people from supporting atrocities if you frame it in the right way.

Trump said his first muslim ban didn't go far enough, and he wish he could do more, 2 days ago, and people cheered. He had them chanting "lock her up" again when his OWN PICK FOR Nat Sec ADVISOR has been committing more violations than Hillary ever came close to.

Trump has a solid 35% of the country buying into his delusions, there's a lot you can do with this many people willing to believe anything for you.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment

Quote :
"The Milgram experiment on obedience to authority figures was a series of social psychology experiments conducted by Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram. They measured the willingness of study participants, men from a diverse range of occupations with varying levels of education, to obey an authority figure who instructed them to perform acts conflicting with their personal conscience; the experiment found, unexpectedly, that a very high proportion of people were prepared to obey, albeit unwillingly, even if apparently causing serious injury and distress. Milgram first described his research in 1963 in an article published in the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology[1] and later discussed his findings in greater depth in his 1974 book, Obedience to Authority: An Experimental View.[2]"

Except the Milgram experiment has been questioned pretty much since its publication. Even in the link you posted, his ethics were questioned, as well as his results.

The experiment was questioned because it involves treating the participants unethically (lying to them, and making them believe they were causing someone else pain). That does not discredit the study's findings though, and I can assure you those results aren't some trivial thing in the psychology world.

More broadly, we were discussing an authoritarian figure's ability to coerce the populace into something like hunting down Muslims; and how this could never work because in America the majority of people wouldn't support that. Bullshit. The reality of the situation is you don't need the majority of people to even support something like hunting down Muslims. You only need a core group of supporters to back you, violently and aggressively, and the majority of the people will go along out of compliance and complacency with the status quo. The majority of the people will be quiet so as not to make waves. That's what happened in Germany, and that's what could happen in America.

no, it really was a shit experiment with all kind of interference and its totally disregarded today

but trump's rise to power and early actions strongly mirror the rise of fascism and how authoritarians gather power

fuck, I was wrong. I hate when that happens. I was conflating Milgram's study with the Stanford Prison Experiment.

Lmao, I see the HuffPost echo-chamber is even more delusional than normal today... TIL:

Scaling back the federal government/regulations/taxes/mandates = Authoritarian

Enforcing your borders is "rounding up Muslims" and Fascist...

But the side attacking the 1st and 2nd amendments, spying on people, using the IRS to target political opponents, using the main stream media as propaganda, race-baiting and inciting violence/riots and hate crime hoaxes, etc... that side is okay?

You have to be an idiot if you can't see some small resemblance to Hitler's populism and Trump's. If you're going to make the comparison, you have to make it with the Pre-WWII, not-the Holocaust Hitler. He was welcomed with open arms, and the argument could be made that he turned Germany's economy around. He was loved by the people of Germany.

Which is why when he started talking all of his anti-semetic shit, a lot of reasonable people just gave it a pass, waved it away, and ignored it.

"In Warren, Amber Barr, 34, lives in a women’s supportive housing complex and regrets voting for Mr. Trump. She and her 4-year-old daughter, Brooklynn, survive on a $588 disability check and $340 in food stamps every month. Her rent is $99, and she fears that Mr. Trump’s housing cuts are just the beginning.

“If I didn’t have these programs, I wouldn’t have any kind of support, I wouldn’t have any kind of direction as to what to do, where to go, and I wouldn’t have any money to help me find resources,” Ms. Barr said, as she began to cry.

Housing assistance has helped her focus on getting treatment for hepatitis C, attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety. It also meant escaping the temporary housing she was in for several months after leaving an abusive relationship.

Last week, as she thought of Mr. Trump’s budget, Ms. Barr stood outside her building nervously clutching the only money she had left for the month: six quarters she hoped to put under her daughter’s pillow as a gift from the tooth fairy.

“I don’t plan on being here forever,” Ms. Barr said, wiping away tears. “People that are getting help right now are succeeding. People are not going to succeed. They are going to give up.”"

According to this website (https://voterrecords.com/voter/34970962/amber-barr), the woman above registered to vote in July of 2015. So she's never even bothered to vote before in her life, but she came out for Donald Trump.

In between homelessness, alcoholism, managing an ostensible disability, and being a parent, she somehow found the time and energy to vote for Donald Trump.

^ woman with history of bad judgement, makes a bad judgement.

I think the true failure was in the GOP primaries looking back at things. Trump never got a majority, the field was too factioned and his simple, if inconsistent, message and brash style pulled in a lot of the low information voters.

GOP and DNC would be better off implementing a ranked voting method, it's the best way to shield against another Trump I bet.

^To add to that, they'd also benefit by not breaking their own bylaws (specifically the DNC, I know nothing about the RNC and whether they've ever broken their bylaws).

I like how they put up a blue curtain at Mar-A-Lago to make it look like Trump is actually giving the speech from a gov't building. The camera zooms out and it's the palatial ballroom at his fucking golf resort.

Obama gets condemned for going behind the podium in the white house press room in a tan suit but Trump is taken more seriously from mar-a-lago.

When do you think Trump will roll back the bans on lead in paint and gas? I think lead-free paint makes for an inferior product, and with leaded gas, we can bring back real American Muscle cars.
