It was a dumb, insensitive comment, for sure.

What I've been reading in the news though, is really a testament to how shitty our media is.

Speaker Ryan made some hay on the comment, good on him. The House also took a principled stand by underfunding (by only a small % of the total) the Administration's VA appropriations request because "they ain't gonna sign no blank checks until reforms are made and the VA has true accountability!!!"

They then turn around and appropriate a few billion over the administration's request for defense spending. The same DOD that can't account for Trillions over the past decade.

Oh, I'm aware. Neither side seems to truly care about the vets unless it's election session or it's to make the other guy look bad. We're pawns.

Can't find money for the veterans we have, but we can sure find money to make new veterans.
