if you have a password required to login on your computer, doesn't that prevent them from accessing anything?

i'm not clear on what was compromised, can you not just change your TV password?

I've gone from holding a pitchfork, to stressing the f out, to seeing TV's stance on weak reused passwords, to being completely unsure. There was definitely some shit going down over the last week with DDOS and the teamviewer clients I have were spazzing out with checksum errors and unable to resolve the hosts. I mean one of the reddit comments pointed out that 200 million people use TV and we have a thread with like 40-50 people claiming they were hacked.

A day or two ago I got a weird obviously spam friend request on an email that I have TV account but never activated. I checked my other account and it's not on any db lists dumps or pastes and it had a pretty secure and unique password. I did however not have 2fa enabled because I wasn't aware teamviewer supported it, but now that's been added to my google authenticator. I still probably won't renew/upgrade to v12 later this year because of the whole thing. Unless more is uncovered/shared.

yeah, i enabled 2fa and made sure that my browser didn't have any saved passwords and checked that my google account has 2fa. amazon is the only site that has any payment information, but i enabled 2fa (it wasn't before). i cleared all browser history and saved form info, passwords, etc... i also changed my microsoft account password

i'm just going to keep an eye on my log file

it seems like it might be related to people not disabling the weak 4-digit access code
