http://www.automobilemag.com/news/2015-polaris-slingshot-review/

I didn't see any topics on it. I've seen probably 3 of these on the road alone this week.
I think it would be fun to own for 6 months, but then lose its novelty.

Would you own one or get something else for $20-$25k?

Quote :
" The plastic Polaris has a 10:1 pound-to-hp ratio, better than an Alfa Romeo 4C, yet can only muster 0 to 60 mph in a little under 6 seconds, run the quarter-mile in 14.6 seconds, and top out at 130 mph — if you’re willing to risk third-degree windburn, that is — but it makes up for its lack of speed by being nimble and animated."

I wouldn't want one for half that price.

They are an attention grabber for sure, but I really don't see the performance for the money value... You have to wear a helmet and it's classified as a motorcycle in NC.

I think I'd rather have the Can Am in this segment... But I guess if you want a feel closer to a car and less like a motorcycle (can am), then the polaris is the way to go...

I have a Seven clone...it's a pretty nice homebuilt (from scratch), not a Caterham, though.

...and that's exactly why I wouldn't want one. You could buy a Seven clone like mine that would kick the Slingshot's ass for significantly cheaper (at the expense of fit & finish, warranty, etc)...or you could buy a really nice track day car for that much money.

It doesn't sound like the fit and finish of those slingshot things is anything to write home about...not like that should be the deciding factor in this segment

[Edited on July 3, 2016 at 1:34 AM. Reason : i think these things are for old people who wanna look like they're going fast]

I saw one of these a couple weeks ago. Some old, retired couple at the lake had it.

It's a shame we have to give up a wheel and classify a vehicle as a motorcycle just to get around all the bullshit regulation and end up with a small, nimble, cheap vehicle.

[Edited on July 4, 2016 at 10:17 PM. Reason : And these things aren't even really cheap]
