How "value" do you want to get? You can find them by reputable brands for under $70. Under $50 if you don't need a CD player.

Do they make anything for like 50 bucks or less that doesn't look like altezza lights?

The Sony MEX-N5000bt that I installed in the Crown Vic a few years ago has worked like a champ and it was something like $95 on sale in 2013. It's since been superseded by the N5100bt which seems similar. Yeah, it's over $50, but would buy again. The default shifty light colors are annoying but it takes less than a minute to go into the menu and set them to match your other dashboard lights (the colors are highly adjustable).

The only thing I don't like about it is that it was supposed to pair via NFC by touching the phone to the control knob, and I've never been able to get that to work/

I bought this about 18 months ago to go in my beater daily driver 2001 Camry.
$19 shipped Amazon Prime.

AM/FM reception is fine. SD card and flash drive ports work fine for playing MP3's.

Bluetooth works fine too. HOWEVER, about once every week or two, it shows that it's connected to my phone, or sometimes doesn't show that it's connected, and will not output the audio. Whenever this happens, I just push a little paperclip into the tiny "reset" hole on the top corner of it and everything works again. (you lose your presets, clock, etc. each time though). I may have got a lemon though, because it seems other folks have units that work perfectly.

It's extremely no frills, but for less than $20 shipped, it's a fantastic way to listen to my podcasts/spotify in the car.

It usually reconnects just fine to my phone whenever I get in the car and start it up. I feel like sometimes it automatically begins playing audio, and sometimes I have to press the "play" button on either the faceplate or the phone to start the audio. Not a big deal, but just letting you know about the small quirks. It always picks up where it left off though (I'm sure that's a function of my phone moreso than of the radio, but still...I like it).
