Can the same be done in the Model S?

Stig Lap: Porsche Taycan Turbo S | Top Gear: Series 28
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qnYSQykMW4

It went around the Top Gear Lap in 1' 17.6": 21st fastest time ever, which makes it faster than many supercars and hypercars!

Fastest 4-door ever by a wide margin (26 cars between it and the next sedan on the list), but not many sedans have been tested by them.

Here are some times around the Taycan Turbo S's time:

01:16.0	Mercedes-AMG GT R (partly damp)
01:16.1 Porsche 991 GT3 RS
01:16.2 McLaren MP4-12C
01:16.5 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
01:16.8 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
01:17.1 Gumpert Apollo S
01:17.3 Ascari A10
01:17.5 Mercedes-AMG GTS
01:17.6 Koenigsegg CCX (with Top Gear Wing)
01:17.6 Honda NSX (second generation)
01:17.6 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
01:17.7 Noble M600 (cold)
01:17.8 Nissan GT-R (2012)
01:17.8 Pagani Zonda Roadster F (Clubsport Version)
01:17.9 Caterham Seven Superlight R500 (cold)
01:18.3 Bugatti Veyron 16.4
01:18.4 Pagani Zonda F
01:18.9 Maserati MC12
01:19.0 Lamborghini MurciƩlago LP670-4 SuperVeloce

They have not tested many sedans in their history, so there is no way to know how the current models of the Panamera Turbo S (or Hybrid), M5, E63, C63, XE SV Project 8, or Model S would compare. There do exist, however, data points for the current M3, Giulia Quadrifoglio, Model 3P, and previous C63 Black Series:

01:21.0	Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series
01:21.2 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
01:21.4 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
01:21.5 Aston Martin DB11
01:21.5 Tesla Model 3 AWD Performance
01:21.6 Porsche Cayman GTS
01:21.6 BMW F80 M3

Listen to Chris Harris philosophize about the Taycan Turbo S, future of Porsche, electrification of cars, and drifting the Taycan Turbo S:

thats hardly the reason it costs more than the model s
having repeatable performance is all about voltage control..doesnt take money to do that.

Porsche is a luxury brand that with a serious racing heritage..the only reason anyone is comparing the Taycan to the model S is because the model S is the only other electric car out right now with comparable numbers. Its amazing that a Porsche in 2020 is just barely able to eek out a couple tenths over a car that came out in 2012 from a small tech startup. It will be interesting to see how the Taycan compares to the triple motor "plaid" version of the S which did very well around the ring..and will likely be more comparable in pricing.
I like that Porsche has come out with an electric offering, but I really expected more

that's less a function of Porsche's capabilities as an automaker and more a function of the inherent limitations of Li-Ion battery tech today.

^..there are electric cars using current battery technology that are much faster than the taycan or model s..not sure where the limits of lithium ion technology come into play here. You can always build a bigger pack for more voltage..yes it will weigh more but the torque increase more than makes up for the weight increase.

unrelated but related to the thread:

Doesn't take someone with an engineering degree to realize how much better the Taycan is over the Tesla.

(Nevermind it should given the cost).

Has anyone seen one in person yet? I did at the dealership a few weeks ago and honestly wasn't impressed. Looks better in photos.
